venom69 1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? A lot. Bought a Mac, roadtripped without the family, etc.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't remember making a resolution last year, but I think I might make one next year. I dislike not being able to fit in my clothes.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? No.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Family pet, grandmother, great aunt, coworker.
5. What countries did you visit? Canadia! For Gatecon! It was AWESOME!
6. Did you have any crushes? Yes. One or two. None right now, other than for fictional characters and the actors who play them.
7. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? Student loans?
8. What dates from 2008 will remain etched in your memory, and why? Dates of the deaths of the loved ones, and the dates of my trip (Atlantis was canceled while I was at a Stargate convention--how weird is that?)
9. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Deciding on a career. Helping people who needed it.
10. What is your biggest failing of 2008? Not taking care of myself, overspending. Things addressed by New Years resolutions
11. Did you suffer illness of injury? Nope. Other than a spectacular sunburn in July.
12. What was the best thing you bought? 15" MacBook Pro :D
13. Whose behaviour merited celebration? My brother, for putting up with my parents
14. Whose behaviour made you appalled and disgusted? Parents. Handling stress poorly. I feel betrayed by them for not taking care of themselves. Their behavior is going to kill them and I'm mad at them for it.
15. Where did most of your money go? Rent, computer, food and beverage. The fact that I'm not sure about this category says something about my money handling skills.
16. What did you get really really excited about? Gatecon trip (meeting RDA omg, speaking to RDA and AT on stage OMG OMG)

a) Happier or Sadder? Sadder, but perhaps more serene.
b) Thinner or Fatter? Fatter.
c) Richer or Poorer? Richer in some ways, poorer in others.
19. What do you wish you'd done more of? Jogged.
20. What do you wish you'd done less of? Spend money, drinking, worrying, crying.

24. What was your favourite TV program? I watched all of Gilmore Girls, JAG, House MD, Bones, and The X Files. XF movie was a high point, but I loved all of the shows while watching them. Maybe I should put "less TV" up there...I say as I start up another ep of Angel (Joss Whedon is an SOB...)
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Pissed off at my Dad a little bit right now. And some other people. But I don't think I'm one who spends times brooding.
26. What was the best book that you read? I read all of the Temperance Brennan books (12, I think), which were good, but I really liked the one novel for the show Bones. The title escapes me.

28. What did you want and get? MacBook, Bones DVDs, many other nice things.
29. What did you want and not get? A Dog's Breakfast.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I turned 21, on Mother's Day. We spent it at my aunt's house with my grandmother. It turned out to be the last time I'd see her before her last hospital stay in July. She kicked out butts at Wii Bowling. It was the best day ever.
32. What one thing would have made your year measurably more satisfying? Knowing my parents would be more okay in the future than they are now.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008? Whatever fit. I bought more professional clothes this year. I think I didn't buy any jeans. Go me.
34. What kept you sane? Fewer classes, time away from my family, TV show torrents.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? David Boreanaz :)
36. What political issue stirred you the most? Prop 8. The outcome was just...so very sad. And having to listen to my parents talk about politics....gah.
37. Who did you miss? My dog and my grandmother.
38. Who was the best new person you met? This guy in one of my classes. Interesting, good conversation, and cute to boot.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008? The importance of the support of your friends. We all went through hard times this year, but we all had someone to reach out to. Very important.
