i suppose i really should go back and recap some things, like where i've been for almost a whole year, instead of jumping back in with both feet like i do.
March 2006
i get kicked out of school for being a lazy slacker and not going to classes. i move in with vince "temporarly", and continue on with wedding planning/prepping. i think about trying to find a job. april and may are much the same (minus the getting kicked out of school part).
June 2006
vince and i are married in rapids. there's a tornado after the ceremony. i know they say rain on your wedding day is a sign of good fortune, but what do wall clouds and funnels from the sky mean? i think harder about trying to find a job.
July 2006
we spend most of the month of july travelling - wisconsin, michigan, new york, bermuda, the bahamas. many pictures are taken, and there is an encounter with some flamingoes at the bird sanctuary in nassau. i get sick on the boat to bermuda the second day, and spend most of it drugged up and passed out. throwing up in a elevator is not cool, but garbage cans directly outside of said elevators are pretty handy, if you know what i mean. we come home and i begin actively trying to find a job.
August 2006
not much happens. sneaky gets sick, but we nurse him back to health ourselves. i almost land a job at the nordstrom where my cousin works, but in the end lose the job to someone else because the restaurant manager is a prick. begin to get nervous because student loans will begin to come due next month, yay! vince finishes classes/program at clc and petitions to graduate, yay!!! my parents sign my car title over to me because their insurance company says they can't cover me anymore.
September 2006
car craps out really good this time, spends next 5 months pretty much dead on driveway. apply for 3274045205 lake county jobs, get none of them. not even a callback or interview, bastards. my dad sends vince's resume around to pretty much everyone he knows (he knows people, trust me), and while there are a few nibbles, mostly all we're getting the mail these days are "thanks, but no thanks" letters. my loans enter repayment and i have to use some of the wedding money from savings.
October 2006
i've pretty much given up trying to find a culinary job and apply for anything. vince gets an offer from a company in point (up by my parents) around the same time i get an offer from walgreens. he also gets a letter from school saying he'll be able to graduate and will get his diploma in december sometime, ohgodyesyay! we mull on what to do about jobs for a week, end up turning down the point job, i accept at walgreens. i am now a retail service clerk, oh joy. can't make loan payment. sneaky gets sick again.
November 2006
i start, vince continues to look. retail is crazy in general, and worse around the holiday season. i must be insane. my parents give me $500 for car insurance on a car they don't know doesn't work - i use the money to pay for two months' worth of student loans, no late fees insue. workworkworkworkworkworkworkwork like a good little drone. we think sneaky is recovering, but he's actually not. we take him to the vet, the vet says he has liver failure and we have to give him two kinds of medicine for the rest of his life. he lives only one week longer. rest in peace sneaky birdie.
December 2006
workworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkwork. i get a lot of overtime and holiday pay for both thanksgiving and christmas (new year's eve isn't considered a holiday to corporate). christmas money goes reeeeally fast. vince technically graduates, no diploma comes. wtf? we decide to get a parrot and contact a breeder in rockford. we decide on a baby meyer's, but they all stop eating and die. we decide to meet the baby brown headeds, and take bijou home a week before my birthday. yes, he's named after the coins you can get in ZG. if you don't play WoW you won't get this. that's okay.
January 2007
workworkworkworkworkworkworkworkworkwork. i'm still getting tons of hours, and getting called in to cover shifts. there's talk of moving me from the floor to pharmacy, where i applied to work in the first place. vince's diploma comes, hewitt pulls him from a list of people at the clc job center. oh happy day! my w2 doesn't come until the absolute very last second, what the hell guys.
February 2007
workworkworkworkworktraintraintraintrain. vince starts at hewitt as an IS co-op (paid intern), i move to pharmacy - i am now a pharm tech.
i basically do everything but take new scripts over the phone from doc's offices, copies from competitors, and mix compound drugs. i get a raise. i realize i haven't been playing WoW basically since i started at walgreens and cancel my account. maybe i'll pick it up again, who knows. i drop $800 on my car, but it's totally worth it to have my own working vehicle again. vince's mom finally signs his car title, so now we each own our own vehicles. my mom calls me and asks me to send her a copy of my title. remember how back in august their (my parents') ins. company says "we can't cover your daughter anymore - she's married and living out of state"? well turns out they've been covering me all this time because they had no proof i was living out of state, owned my own vehicle, blah blah blah. progressive (our ins. company) is a pretty nifty insurance company.
March 2007
workworkworkworkworkworkwork. my benefits kick in, heck yes. i spend the better part of a week trying to convince blue cross blue shield of illinois i actually have sent them an application and what the heck is going on, vince needs to see a doctor cuz his ear is severely f-ed up. they say sorry, no dice, we pay for the visit ourselves. and the next one. and almost the blood draw. what the heck guys.
April 2007
workworkworkworkworkworkworkwork. vince applies and is hired for a full time position at hewitt. beneficilarity ensues immediately. we're still actually trying to figure that one out. it's okay though, we've got 28 more days to figure it out, though i doubt we'll need so much time. and that's pretty much it, or at least all i can remember for now. and this entry is huge enough anyway, so there. plus i've been writing for an hour and a half so now it's 1030 and need to give bijou a shower. he's cranky that i'm not paying attention to him.
sometimes i wonder if i know where i'm going
i go for a walk like this
and it seems i have been walking for years and years and years
and i don't know where i'm going
i hear this sound leading me on
and i don't know where it is taking me
