'Nother Update on Life, Cons, and End of the Year Gallery Showing

Okeydokey, so new semester has begun. Yay. Portfolio class shall be a pain in the ass, as expected. I got the job as a lab aide in 624 S. Wabash so w00t! $8 an hour to sit around, burn the occasional stack of DVD's, clean some stuff every once in a while, do homework, watch anime, and in some cases see Jeff chair race down the hallway with a student or two... I still have my other job at the FYE too, so maybe I can finally start putting money back into my ailing savings account.

Now onto business. My portfolio class has a mandatory gallery exhibition at the school's end of the year festival Manifest. Each student in my class has to come up with some project of their's to showcase at their gallery. I decided to do mine...on cosplay. I'm tentatively titling it "Don't Call Me a Freak! A Portrait of Cosplay. I still have to get in contact with some people about filming/photographing them both in work and in costume. I was considering for the actual cosplay photographs to have the cosplayer doing something they'd normally be doing in their everyday life, like driving, going to grocery shopping, getting their mail, riding an elevator, etc. Sort of like a WE ARE AMONG YOU type deal. The whole idea was to shed some light on the subculture. Hell one of the school's magazines did an article on furries for godsake, I should be able to do the same! XD Since the gallery showing lands on the friday of Acen I don't think many or any of my friends will show up to see it, even though having cosplayers attend would be EPIC in my opinion.

And, back to the convention front.
I'm still planning on attending Acen, despite the gallery stuff, I'm hoping taking everything down again won't be some massive undertaking. XP I'll do what I can.
I definitely want to go to Otakon again this year it's just too awesome to pass up.
I want to try to attend Youmacon too, I'm just hoping it won't interfere with school.
Ohayocon is still a go. I don't know if we'll drive again this year though. We'll see what happens. =3
