slow week in entertainment...

This is me building character. My mother used to say, when you start something, you finish it, even if you realize halfway through that you don't like it. She was talking about how I was always bitching and moaning about dance class and gymnastics, but I think it applies here as well.

A few common misconceptions need to be addressed:
1) Roselyn Sanchez is NOT that pretty. She's also NOT a good actress.
2) Poppy Montgomery is NOT pregnant. If she is, she will eventually give birth to a beetle, or possibly a small rodent. Nothing more would fit inside her. [She could of course have been abducted by aliens, and a slimy green thing will pop out. This theory could explain a lot.]
3) Danny and Elena are NOT a cute couple. It's a stupid cliched plotline and there should be laws against it.
4) Martin is NOT a 16-year-old black kid from the hood. [This has no real relevance to this week's episode as Martin refrained from any gangsta speak, but it needs to be said.]
5) Jack and Sam are not OMGOTP!!11!one!!.
6) The following 'words' are not cool or funny, they are stupid: Sack, Danna, Smarty, Smanny, Janne. [There are more like them that are equally stupid, but I'm sure you catch my drift and I won't need to look up any more.]

The episode was pretty boring. When I sat down to write this, I had to think for a couple of minutes before I even remembered it. The only things that stood out were the above thoughts as well as:
- They need new people in charge of wardrobe. Sam's especially.
- Danny's scarf. I had one JUST like it in '95, except mine is purple. When it was teetering just on the edge of used-to-be-cool. There are parts of the '90s that should not be relived, fashion-wise. It's just like how the '80s were a huge mistake BOTH times around.
- Martin's comment to Danny when he was being annoying and lovesick for Elena was funny and I heartily agreed. But it's not something to be joked about. If Martin had balls at all, he would have organized an intervention. He's an addict, he knows about stuff like that. Oh, wait, that was LAST season, it's not relevant anymore.

Other than that, I didn't care for it much. Sure, there was some nice interaction and the Jack/Sam conversations MIGHT turn out to have been good. It's just that they are ammunition for the Jack/Sam fans, all of whom should be rounded up and shot on grounds of being complete morons. If it leads to nothing, then I'm all for the bonding, but when the show is such crap, and has such crappy writers, directors, producers, whatever, I'm not convinced even ALP's reluctance to go in that direction will be enough. Jack may be the center of the WaT universe, but is ALP the center of the studio's universe? Really? It's not like I can argue that they won't go there because it's stupid and wouldn't do anything good for the show, because it's blatantly obvious they don't care about that. At all.

The MP and his oh so hard life didn't interest me in the slightest. Neither did his moronic son. Or his affair with his dead wife's married (or was she?) sister.

I also have doubts about the scene in the hospital where Sam cut off the guy's IV and he was instantly in excruciating pain. I don't know WHAT they put in that IV, but I wonder how it could stop working that fast. Because if it only works as long as it's actually being pumped into your veins, I get how people can become addicted. I don't care how cool it made her look. Which I really think it didn't. And that scene was another beautiful example of how I am apparently a complete dunce, because I missed those "great looks" between Sam and Martin.

I watched the promo for Sunday's ep. Someone said something, and I couldn't help myself. Now I'm glad. Forewarned is forearmed. I'll be packing a heavy artillery of indifference. Possibly some denial. All heavy movable object will be tied down in case I run out of both and feel compelled to throw things at my tv. I need my tv for watching OTHER shows. And S1 repeats.

The worst thing is, the suckiness of the show does not stop fanfic ideas popping into my head.

Boston Legal doesn't go behind a cut because it's early season two, so it shouldn't be spoilery to anyone on planet Earth, I think.

I really really like this show, but...

Is it okay that I liked season one better?

I miss Lori. That's all, actually.

I get that she was replaced by Denise, but so far I don't really care about Denise. Julie Bowen just doesn't do the bitch act very convincingly for me. Maybe it will change when she gets to do other things than get divorced.

But I'll still miss Lori. And it will still bother me that she has just disappeared without explanation. Yes, I saw Monica Potter sitting there in the room when they were discussing some case, but that was it. No reason for why Lori wasn't doing anything anymore, no conclusion to the complaint against Denny, nothing. At least Tara left a note!

Denny and Alan just amuse the hell out of me. I laugh out loud. Very few shows make me laugh out loud.

When they've finished showing S2 I'll catch up on S3. I think I must.

I look forward to Bones and Veronica Mars coming back. Muchly.

tv rant, boston legal, without a trace
