hey my peoplez. i think o'brien wrote this book so that he can express his ideas about vietnam. not a lot of people know about the war and don't have an interest in it. maybe he wanted to educate peoplez. i think he also wanted to share some stories about the war. even though it says it's a work of fiction there may be some truth to it. each story in the book has a message behind it. he could have chosen a better way to tell the stories though. it was kinda hard to comprehend at times. i think only those who have been in the war can understand what he is talking about. well, at least they understand what he is talking about throughout the entire book and i salute them because sometimes i had no clue what o'brien was saying. i dedicate these quotes to the peoplez who want to be writers:
"Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader-not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon."
E.L. Doctorow
"Good writers are those who keep the language efficient. That is to say, keep it accurate, keep it clear."
Ezra Pound
