drove with the grandfolks up to maryland for my cousin caitlin's university graduation. we stopped at a microtel in south carolina, had a beer, watched some interweb tv, and ate apple slices with peanut butter.
for the record, south carolina is ominous and threatening:
standing in our bathroom later that evening, I found a 5-inch silver hair growing out of the center of my forehead, just barely thicker than spider silk.
1.) wtf?
2.) how on EARTH did I somehow manage to allow a silver hair to grow a full 5 inches out from the center of my forehead before I noticed it?
other points of interest:
ever wondered where Mormons go on family vacations? I used to. well, wonder no more.
The
Washington DC Temple. Joseph Smith's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is obscured by trees.
legally, this person is still required to have a sticker.
this is where I was born. Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD.

I'm just sayin'. he's sweet and all... but something's not quite right.
see? he walks like a man.
it was a lovely trip. caitlin and heather showed me around annapolis. crabs happened in the best way possible. I got some genuine Pusser's Rum and a pair of Royal British Navy tin cups.
and I got to kick around with the Russells, which is never a bad time.
ROYAL NAVY TRADITIONAL TOASTS
Monday: "Our ships at sea."
Tuesday: "Our men."
Wednesday: "Ourselves (as no-one else is likely to concern themselves with our welfare.)"
Thursday: "A bloody war and a quick promotion."
Friday: "A willing soul and a sea room."
Saturday: "Sweethearts and wives, may they never meet."
Sunday: "Absent friends and those at sea."
but the standing toast
that pleased the most
was
"The wind that blows
The ship that goes
And the lass that
loved a sailor!"
