yack.
my nose isn't doing 'in' anymore. only 'off' and 'out'. I think it started before I came home, but it seems like I'm always sick when I'm down here, anyway.
my father grew a grizzly adams-style beard. he's recovering really well, in spite of the nerve damage in his leg, but until he finds out whether or not he's going back to work, he's letting it all grow out. imagine the scene from Teen Wolf where michael J. fox is transforming in the bathroom and opens the door to find his dad all wooly, standing in the hall waiting for him. that's what he looks like. it's pretty great.
somewhere outside Stuart on the drive home, my ipod spat Land of Confusion out at me (Disturbed's cover of the Genesis song). the short version of this story is that it rocked my face half off, and got me in the mood for other cover songs, specifically darker or more modern rock versions of '80s tunes. I'll outline my new playlist solution, which only partially adheres to that plan:
Alkaline Trio - Bye Bye Love
Bowling for Soup - I Ran
Fiona Apple - Across the Universe
Foo Fighters - Baker Street
Frou Frou - Holding Out for A Hero
Jennifer Saunders - Holding Out For A Hero
Gold Finger - 99 Red Baloons
Greenday - I Fought The Law
HIM - Wicked Game
Lemonheads - Mrs. Robinson
Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus
Nickelback & Kid Rock - Saturday Night
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground
Nikka Costa - Call Me
The Dandy Warhols - Call Me
Orgy - Blue Monday
The Postal Service - Against All Odds
Stabbing Westward - Bizarre Love Triangle
Nonpoint - In The Air Tonight
Wizo - All That She Wants
Rob Zombie - Blitzkrieg Bop
Social Distortion - Ring of Fire
Stereophonics - Don't let me down
Stone Temple Pilots - Revolution
The Ataris - The Boys Of Summer
The Get Up Kids - Close To Me
The Hippos - Always Something There To Remind Me
I doubled up on the ones I couldn't choose between. if I missed any that you think are crucial to my mental and emotional development, please write them down on a 3x5 index card along with your name and send them with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to:
me.
