Obey your thirst. (And GP)caitlyn_mcJune 23 2003, 11:37:22 UTC
GP, you're like Sprite. Just darned refreshing.
(Actually, you know very well how fond I am of Dr. Pepper, but the slogan didn't go as well...and yeah.)
But ANYWAY. I have to say that I have found your review extremely refreshing. I am reeling from this book, but as things plunk into place I have a great appreciation for it. This had to happen. (That's Paula's mantra.) Imagine how upset we would all be if this happened to Sweet Innocent Harry in Book Seven. We would be utterly horrified. No, it is better this way. Harry will sort his feelings out and get better at these new emotions. (With Ginny's help. Hee hee.) Goblet of Fire was a coming of age novel. She wasn't kidding. Harry is of age and it's not easy. I'm in the middle of reading it for a second time right now and I'm not feeling as upset as I was the first time through.
JKR rocks and I think this perspective shift (however mean and Harry-centric it was for us) was needed. Personally, if Harry had all lollipops and ice cream when he returned back to Hogwarts, I wouldn't have been pleased.
And Ginny kix so much arse in this book. She's a right spitfire and she just waltzed up to him and set him straight. Complete with yelling. She rulz.
I felt shell-shocked at first... but darn it, this book is NOT going to send me back whimpering for Harry Potter for Hufflepuffs. Suck it up and be Gryffindors people.

Thank you Cait. I really, really loved this, and I don't understand how a real fan could not like it. The book is about Harry. Everything that happened makes perfect sense in relation to what has happened to Harry and what we know will have to happen to him. It's not pretty, but it was never supposed to be. I honestly believe that once people take a chance to think about it, talk about it, reread it, they will realize how incredible this book is. I really think it's the best of the series.
