Reading Baby!

Aug 29, 2006 11:00

Ahhhh, so much to say in such little space, so i won't, because writing it down would merely ruin the magic time i had, sad thing is, none of Fran Fucked were really there to share it with me, therefore no one will ever know what i really got up to...unless they ask me and trigger off a memory.  It was during Reading Festival that i discovered this HUGE weakness i have of not being able to find people, hence my solarity during MOST of Reading...fucking loved it tho.

My HIGHLIGHT was Larrikin Love.... best bad of the WHOLE of Reading.

The BEST NIGHT was Sunday, the last night. I saw Klaxons, Larrikin Love and Hot Chip all in one row... was the best night of my life. 3 Bands that i thought were brillliant, and now think are even better.

Other bands i saw that totally blew me away were The Noisettes (absolutely BRILLIANT and are playing Norwich UEA on 4Oct so BE THERE). The Noisettes were brilliant live, they really were, Alex was PROPER creaming, The Klaxons wee actually not that good... even tho the gig was awsome, the crowd was going literally mental probably because half of them were buzzing on Es. I saw this guy walk past me with his eyeballs LITERALLY sticking out from his eye sockets. I managed to rave with a load of glow sticks but lost them all. People kept splatting each other with the stuff inside the glowsticks so i got covered in glow in the dark shit, it was a MENTAL gig. Larrikin Love (already mentioned them) were BRILLIANT, i cannot say it enough, the singer's mum came onstage to play spoons and everything. Mystery Jets came onstage to play with them for a while as well. Steve Lamaq was in the audience for Larrikin Love and you could tell that he was really loving it. Only thing that annoyed me was the crowd.

Indie crowds are CUNTS. Absolute CUNTS.

I talked to loads of cool people, mostly during to waiting time before the gigs start. A lot of them were just Indie Cunts tho... trying to impress me with their knowledge off all things NME... i couldn't care less.

I saw Cold Cut, Dave seemed to really love them but i didn't really get it. The crowd in the Dance Tent were going crazy at every little thing they did, but i didn't really get the impact they caused on the crowd. It was a wierd experience but it was fun all the same.

Silent disco NEVER HAPPENED. Rubbished.

Maximo Park were ALRIGHT. I'm a bit tired of them now tho.

Our campsite was discusting by the end of it.... i don't know how we managed to live in such squalour and how i managed with the toilets. But i did an i would DEFFINATELY do it again.

I see this years Reading now gone as a warm up. Like a learning curve. I know what to do and what not to do. For example i'm never gonna brig food i have to cook, i had pretty much all of the food i brought left so i just left it at the campsite. And loads of other things that i need to remember to do (or not to do) next time.

Plan B was BRILLIANT, Beans spotted Mike Skinner (i kept calling him Frank Skinner) in the audience. She was soooo funny cos she was proper creaming. She asked for a pcture with him, so she held onto his arm and said "can i pretend to be your friend?" which was really sweet. He didn't seem too bothered by us but had to leave because there were to many people that were beginning to recognice him.

Fisher pulled his scab off... for some reason Fishers Scab is something that will always remind me of Reading 2006.

MUSE was fantastic. Not a huge fan of them before but it made me realise how much of a GENIUS that bloke is (don't even know his name) I reeeally enjoyed the gig so much.... me, Tash and Kat were dancing brilliantly. I lovesd it.

I top of mine has been completely ruined. Parts of the material has comepletely worn away because of rubbing up agaist so many bodies for hours on end.

Be Your Own Pet, a band i'd been looking forward to LOADS, were nothing to write home about. I just think they're losing their appeal for me really.

Gogol Bordello were BRILLIANT.  The gig was brilliant, so energetic but not bone breaking either.

So many other things to comment on but won't bother just cos it'll make no sense.

This is THE most unstructured journal entry i've EVER WRITTEN. But Hey... i don't care.... i've bathed twice and i still smell of bonfire.
