Had confirmed today that my grampy has got lung cancer. We've all be fairly convinced that there has been something wrong with him for some time now as he has gone downhill quite rapidly of late. He actually gave in and said he wanted to go to hospital today - which is completely out of character for him as his delightful name for hospitals is normally 'the killing fields'! The docs did some xrays and they pretty much confirmed it. Not sure what is going to happen now. He's far too frail for them to attempt any sort of treatment, and so I guess it's just a matter of waiting now. The daft thing is, he's totally happy about being in hospital, is scoffing down food like nobodies business and is being the model patient. Which is kinda cool in a way. Although saying that, he doesn't actually know what we all know...don't know if it's cruel or not. It's probably better for him to enjoy as much time as he has left without extra trauma. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't aware anyway.
We shall see what the next few days and weeks bring. It's sad, but in a way, a relief to know.
