My cell phone has decided to stop working halfway. You can still call me, and if I can remember your phone number, I can call you. But the main screen is white. Yeah.
mrs_piglit, I was hoping you'd call, and then it got late, and I tried to call you, but mysteriously called my aunt instead, who I think was in bed. So I stopped trying to make blind phone calls. I will drop off the halloween costume tomorrow after class--about 9:30. I put it in my car already, so I will be sure to remember it. Call or comment if you need me to do something else...
In other news, I made chocolate chip pumpkin bread on Saturday morning, as well cauliflower tarts, for the tea party, which was lots of fun. It turned out quite well, and got better after it had sat for awhile (I think the pumpkin and chocolate blended better the next day.) And it fed it to a bunch of people, which was nice. I started with
this recipe, and modified it. I figured it had too much sugar--almost as much sugar as flour--scary! So, I:
-Reduced the sugar by at least half. Probably by more, but I did throw in an extra handful at some point, just for good measure. I started with about a cup of sugar.
-Put applesauce instead of oil (1:1 substitution)
-added a handful of cocoa powder, because it seemed like a good idea at the time. I didn't really notice the taste specifically.
-put 3 eggs instead of 4
-Used white whole wheat flour instead of white. With this recipe, you seriously couldn't tell, at all.
-Put kind of too many chocolate chips in. Eh, most people liked it that way.
It was good. I think I might experiment by adding ginger/clove, making it without chocolate chips, and a little less sugar. It was really relatively good for you (especially compared to the original recipe). It made... well. A loaf pan, a pie pan, and 6 muffins worth (the pie pan just seemed like a good idea at the time).
