early morning

It's been too hot to go walking at lunch or after work all week, so I got up at five this morning (oh yes, I did!) and walked down to the park and woods. It was nice and cool, and quiet (if a bit buggy). It was also cloudy; not great conditions for pictures, but I took some anyway. Because I'm me. *g*
Of course, it's back to being sunny and hot, so I'm hiding out in the batcave for the afternoon. And of course I took a nap.
I went to see the new (and last) Harry Potter after work yesterday. I'd planned to see the 5:30 show, but since it was slow I left early, and made it in time for the 5:00 3D showing. Spoilers below!
I'm glad I saw it, but I can't say I loved it. There were too many little things they changed from the book that bothered me: Ollivander knowing about the Deathly Hallows; Griphook dying; Harry not figuring out for himself where the diadem was. Also, I don't think David Yates has a handle on how to end a movie definitively; all of his just fade out without a satisfying end. This one especially should really have a solid ending.
There were some really good bits, though. Snape finally had his moment, and it was emotional and devastating. I cried. McGonagall saying "I've always wanted to do that spell." The dragon was fantastic, and the only thing that really benefited from the 3D. The scene with the stone was pitch-perfect, and made me cry (as that scene in the book always does).
I will definitely go see it again, probably in the bargain theatre when it finally makes its way there. I'm sure I'll catch more things on subsequent viewing(s).
If you've seen the other seven, and enjoyed them, it's worth seeing. The 3D is mostly gimmicky; it feels like they did it because they felt they had to, rather than to enhance the story.
