beating the heat

teeny tiny toad, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.
I knew that if I didn't get out this morning, I wouldn't get out at all because it's supposed to be even more hot and sticky today. So I drove down to the park so I could spend more time in the woods, and not expire from the sun and humidity on the walk home.

It was nice and cool in the woods, and a few other people had the same idea I had. Despite the annoying bugs, ill-mannered dogs (and a couple of well-behaved ones), loud talkers, and screeching kids, I did enjoy my walk. I needed to get out and get moving.

I came across this very tiny toad on the way out, and rescued him from the path where he was sure to be squooshed. He wouldn't hold still, despite my assurances that I was not going to eat him. I let him go well off the path, by the little pond-like area (where I took that pic of the frog on the lily pad).

This afternoon, I really need to buckle down and seriously start packing for camp. My list is printed out and added to, and a lot of the stuff is in the same place, I just have to sort, fold & pack it.

Diving in now!
