cottonwood up close

cottonwood branch, originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle.
I came across some cottonwood branches that had gotten blown down today, so I got to see what they look like up close. It's easy to see why it gets everywhere: they're positively loaded with cottony seeds!

I also saw a frog on a lilypad,

some really funky fungus,

some iris in the swamp,

and an upended tree along the path.

Someone is having fun stacking stones in the streambed.

I think this is the prettiest color iris I've seen yet!

It's so nice that I have another day to go on the weekend. I might try to make it downtown for the parade tomorrow morning; it's the same every year, but it's nice to pay tribute to the veterans who march.
