rub my belly
Originally uploaded by Lizzie~Belle. I had a nice time at the Irish festival in Canton yesterday. We heard lots of great music, ran into a few friends, and watched the moon rise while we listened to Lughnasa. That was cool.

We saw a couple of great Acadian groups, which you don't think of in conjunction with Irish music (at least I didn't), but they fit right in. They both had fiddlers who did this sort of dance/ drumming thing with their feet while they played, which was marvelous.

The conflicting acts turned out not to be Solas and Lughnasa, but Solas and Luka Bloom. Unfortunately, Luka Bloom was playing in a small, enclosed, very crowded space, so we didn't get to see (or hear) much of his show. We flirted with the idea of going to see Solas, but tired feet won out and we headed home. It was a long day, but lots of fun.

We got home in time to check out Saturday Night Live, which was supposed to feature Barack Obama, but we found it so incredibly unfunny (and no Obama) that we gave up and went off to bed.

Pictured is Lakshmi's cat, Edamame, who teased me with her belly, 'though I am told that if I try to rub it I will end up bleeding. Robin used to do the same thing. Silly beasts!

I didn't get many pictures at the festival; the light was iffy, and the stage so large, that none of the ones I took of performers came out very well. Click the link to see doggies, carnival rides, and more.
