speaking as a bloke, i've surprisingly *never* understood the whole 'high heel' thing. My understanding is that, in general, women wear them to look a) powerful, or b) sexy, because the average man in society likes the effect such shoes have on them, and the way they make the female leg appear longer and more, well, 'alluring'.
But me, never seen that. I find high-heeled shoes pretty ugly in fact :D and have never understood how people can be 'comfortable' wearing them. it always looks like people wearing them are almost falling over with every step, and that they're more-or-less walking on tiptoes and must be putting *enormous* strain on their lower leg.
but hey, since when has a good image stood in the way of any practicality?!
