Reply with a quote you like and I'll give you five things that remind me of you.
kelachrome gave me:
annelids, poetry, narnia, biology, doctor who
annelids - for the uninitiated of you, these are worms. Earthworm type worms, not to be confused with roundworms or tapeworms or flatworms. I've had a longstanding relationship with annelids ever since I saved them from the tiller for the compost at my local community garden. I was about eight and I ended up on a PBS program. It still kept showing every once in a while for the next five years and all the people at church would be "Oh, I saw you on TV last night, you were so cute" It got a bit embarrassing after a while, but I still love those little invertebrates.
poetry - I've just always liked the way meter and rhythm and diction combine to make something that's more than the sum of its words. Because the right words, in the right order, have far more power than most people give them credit for. Among my favorite poets are: Sylvia Plath, TS Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Emily Dickenson, e e cummings, and, as always, William Shakespeare.
narnia - I first read LLW in second grade, and it was absolutely amazing. We watched some really old movies of the books - one of them was even animated! And then for a book report in third grade, I did The Magician's Nephew. I absolutely adored The Horse and His Boy when I was younger, but it's been a while since I've read it. But my fanfic writing about Narnia didn't start until the summer of 2009, and it's been one hell of a ride. It's all
caramelsilver 's fault that I like writing about girl!Edmund and boy!Lucy (their new names are Edlyn and Lucas). ALso, I try to pretend that The Last Battle just never happened.
biology - I want to be an ecologist when I grow up, and I love learning about different physiological systems in humans as well as other animals. Mollusks and other bivalves are some of my favorites. It's a bit annoying though, because now I know way more than I ever wanted to about exactly what's going on inside my body. For example, that my eyes aren't actually seeing what's in front of me, that it's actually my brain that's processing everything that bounces off my retina. And that's just the awkward conceptual stuff - don't even get me started on the digestive system
doctor who - oh Christopher Eccleston, I love you! He was my first and even though I love all of them, there's always a special place in my heart for him. But for my love of the fandom in general, it's best summed up by this statement: "He's a geeky alien who travels through time in a phone box; what's not to like?" I love his heartbreak and how he can heal others heartbreak. I do wish he'd stop saying 'sorry' quite so often because it stops seeming genuine after a while.
