Happy Mondays: Here, there and everywhere

Feb 21, 2011 21:29

Hello,

Boy I am tired. Full-on exhaustifying tiredness.

1. The funeral is not until a week tomorrow. Seriously long wait times for funerals in the Midlands apparently. We had various backing and forthing about when to go and what to do, as I was due to go down South again on the Friday for the Mayor's Ball. In the end, Ari decided to come to the ball too, after all, so we're going to go down on the late train on the Monday evening, funeral it up on the Tuesday and then stay for the ball, then come back on the Saturday. I had been led to believe that I could claim my original travel on my insurance, but having booked new trains and cancelled the existing flights, I was told that that was a vicious lie. Pretty damned pissed off with Halifax. This whole thing is costing us a fortune which we really don't have.

2. Funeral bit will be hell on toast, I think. I'm doing a reading. I took me a while to find one that didn't say 'oh, my, you were taken too soon' (cause that's bollocks) or was crazy religious, or talked about pebbles and beaches, or rhymed insipidly. I still need to work out what I'm going to wear. I'm not coping very well. I may be developing some kind of anxiety disorder - I had a really horrible full-on panic attack the other day and my immune system had buggered off to the Bahamas. Might go and see a doctor. Maybe he'll give me Valium. I'm fun on Valium. People can understand what I'm saying.

3. But then we will have a couple of days of chilledyness and then my birthday, and the Mayor's Ball. Ari has a dress - it's one she made me about five years ago, adapted a wee bit. I still need a ballgown, too, though. Hmm. We will have masks and it will be pretty. Georgie and Jonathan are going too which will be great. Hopefully we can leave on the Saturday on a more positive note.

4. Went to Padmini's party on Saturday and had a really nice time, which is good because we were on the verge of not going due to exhaustion. Got a little too drunk trying to chill out and forget the world a wee bit, but not in a bad way, just slightly too hungover. Had some great catchups with folks I rarely see.

5.  Stupid Dalkeith Job has been extended again, until the end of March. Oh well. Job's a job.

6. Finally taken car to be fixed, but I have not heard back yet.

7. Had a lovely most-of-the-day with Emily and the boys on Friday. I felt a knawing full-on 'God I miss them' on Thursday, so popped in in the morning, but then ended up going back and working from their house as no-one was in the office and I wasn't dealing well with being on my own. I had lovely chats with Ems and some kick-ass cuddling with Seth, wherein he fell asleep on me and snored. Toby I only saw briefly 'cause he was at nursery, but he seemed very happy to see me. I'm glad he hadn't forgotten me. He demanded I take his photograph. I need to see them all more please, life. Thanks

8. Oh how lovely Andy and Julie just came over to drop off some books for Ari (she is graphic novel-ing it up ahoy and may soon start her own web comic) and we had tea. They are very nice.

9. I have been doing some ironing in the last couple of days. It's been nice. I'm hoping to have time to sort the house out a bit in the coming month or so. I am nearly 29 you know.

Ok I am going to go and fall asleep now. Enjoy the last week of February. With March, comes Spring, and daffodils. I like daffodils.

Lxxxx
