It makes total sense

I was exhausted all day and had to take a nap before I went to the gym.

At 8:00 Christophe came up the stairs with two glasses of ice tea. Rather than waste the ice tea I drank it (it was part red tea, part green, plus some herbal elements.)

So naturally I'm wide away, ready to take on the world now at 11:23 PM while even the hyperactive puppy is snoring.

I'll just throw some random facts here until maybe I get tired of staring at the machine.

1) Current Reading: The Miracle at St. Anna. I'm reading this in anticipation of Spike Lee's movie adaptation coming out. It's good - a little scattered and emotionally disjointed.

2) Current Wine Sampling: Pure Evil (Lvie) Southern Australian Chardonnay. They don't over oak their Chardonnay, so it was a nice change. However, I drank two glasses of it too quickly after a massage and it knocked me square on my ass for the rest of the evening.

3) I've been back at the gym more lately, trying to lose this random 5 pounds that descended out of nowhere (no really, nowhere, I swear). It's not helping. A big part of the gym is yoga, though, and that does help. Last week's yoga meditation was, "There is a part of the ego that would always rather be right than at peace." That instructor rocks.

4) Current Listening: Ironically I've finally really gotten into NPR's Car Talk and I've been working my way through their podcasts while I'm working/ driving around. This has given birth to a strange paranoia that something might happen to one of the brothers and destroy this precious thing - kind of like when one of the "Two Fat Ladies" died.

5) My parents were here for a week while my father and Christophe did crown moulding in the upstairs. The results are fabulous but there was a casualty - one of my blue art glass dome lamps from Home Depot got smashed in what was apparently a completely extraneous removal of a door from its hinges. The search for replacements has been arduous but is done.

6) Current favorite outside snack: Tomunchi Frozen Yogurt up on Parmer near metric. It's a self-serve soft serve, with at least one usually two imitation Pink Berry flavors and an excellent selection of fresh fruit toppings. My current favorite is "Plain Tart" with Fresh Strawberries and Pineapples. During the splittingly hot summer months I've been using that as a lunch. I have no nutritional information that would lead me to suspect this might be the source of 5 pounds.

7) I bought a bunch of cacti at the Austin Cactus and Succulent society's fall sale. One of the plants is a 100-year plant, which means that when my descendants finally have to put me in a home this plant will 1) either be going with me or 2) be the subject of a custody war of some sort. It's now about an inch in diameter. When the time comes - assuming it's really 100 years from now - it'll be six inches in diameter. Every five years I'll take a photograph of it.

8) People are bugging me about getting started on these descendants. My father is especially vocal that they should be here. Now. Meh?

Yeah, not going to make it to 10. Going to go stare at coveted items in the Athleta catalog.
