two things
1. Laurie is now an Aunt! (Which I guess makes me an Aunt-by-proxy?) Alexandria Orean Taylor was born on Sunday. Her brother is absolutely head over heels in love and relishing the new papa role. Laurie is happy for them and looking forward to meeting her new niece. As for me, I'm not super baby-lusty but have always wanted to be an Aunt, and this may be my big chance! It should be a fairly low-yield identity, though, considering they live in Southern California. I'm hoping for photos.
2. My heart is hurting for an awful lot of people right now. Many folks I care about are going through very tough times, and a whole mess of people I don't know are dead. If at all possible, I'd like to request from the powers that be that I don't actively believe in, anyway, that things Stop Sucking, Pronto. A pithy plea, but a genuine one. For what it's worth, my phone and inbox and shoulder are more than available for those that need it.
