urgh, can't sleep. Instead, here is a list of people I'd assemble as a team of life mentors, and why:
1. Oscar Wilde. He could teach me to be the best ever dinner party guest and say lots of intelligent and witty things, while never really meaning them. Dorian Gray reads like a cautionary tale of believing what you stand for, and that's probably something worth learning.
2. Russell Brand. He would in many ways be a terrible influence, but I half-admire him for becoming so successful what with all them addictions and troublesome behaviour and whatnot. He's someone that I'm definitely not, but I relate to a lot of what he's saying
3. Patrick Wolf. Yes,yes, this will look like a fangirlism. But he's here because he can be silly or a diva and he's still learning, while already having done a lot. He's not even a hero to me any more, but he's always standing his ground and never boring
4. Angela Carter, because in literary ways she is my mum
5. Virginia Woolf. She wrote Orlando, and while she's hard to read, the concept of her work can just blow me away. It's worth all the time and effort reading just for all those glowy "me too" moments I get
6. James Dean-eye candy. Also, he sounds like he'd be a fascinating character. He played the bongo drums and said some wonderful things.
he also drew this, which always makes me laugh:
That's all i can think of. who would be your life mentors? I'm going to bed. NIGHT
