Since the Hunger Games series is my current obsession, I was looking up Suzanne Collins, mostly just because I wanted to see if she's totally nerdy. Turns out, she is kinda nerdy-looking. But also she is not only an author, but she also writes movies and TV shows and basically has the career I want. And she went to NYU for dramatic writing, which is exactly the program I got into.
So I am going to seriously look into transferring there next year. Not just because she went there, but because this place is stupid and after listening to my writing for TV teacher the other day talk about how hard it is to get into the business, I feel like I need to go there in order to have any sort of chance at making it. Because I've been thinking about how I really would not be satisfied with working a normal job. I would not be happy. I can't envision myself doing anything else. But I don't think Columbia can realistically get me into the career I want. There are a few graduates who are in pretty high-profile positions, like the CEO of HBO, which is pretty cool, but it's nothing like NYU. I think that's where I need to go.
Now to look up scholarships...
