an experience i never thought I'd have
Gogol Bordello concert at Irving Plaza - I crowd surfed for the first time in my life last night! Euge basically threw me into the air, and the crowd carried me right up to Eugene Hutz. He held out the microphone to me, but I was so consumed with the fact that I was being carried by the masses below, that I wasn't at all paying attention to the song itself, and so had no idea what the words were, but I screamed something anyway (what, I don't remember) at which point the security guards took me and placed me on the ground. It was amazing!!!
Being on top of the crowd is surprisingly less scary than being amongst it - I felt like I would be crushed at any given moment. It was impossible to stand in one place and I constantly had my hands out in front of me protecting myself. Moshing is definitely not for me. But the crowd surfing was worth the ridiculousness.
