childhood memories where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky

so i was going to write about how sad and out of place i feel because we're ripping up the carpet in my room to put in laminate. in the process, i've had to go ahead and pack up all my things to leave this weekend, as well as packing up my room in its entirety. then my parents decided that we should also repaint the doors (?) if you've ever been in my room, you'll realize what a gruesome task that is--both my entry and closet doors are covered, completely, in pictures and mementos spanning grades 6-12.

so i've spent the past hour or so peeling pictures, postcards, drawings, tickets, and other miscellaneous items off my doors and piling them into a shoebox. it wouldn't have taken so long but for the intermittent pauses for reminiscing and chuckling. i have so many pictures of y'all it's not even funny. so i would like to present an incomplete list of how some of you have graced my room for the past seven or so years:

ai v: i have this ridiculously beautiful picture of you dated 9.24.04... "only picture of me ever!"
alan o: i think this is a school photo from like 8th or 9th grade. this does not make up for all the pictures and ids that you've stolen from me!!
amanda p: cuuuuute! you, from 8th grade, i think. wearing a red panda shirt. classic amanda.
brooke t: a school shot, several years ago. a beautiful senior glamour shot :) a picture of you on one of your east coast excursions, very lovely. us, at les mis, the night that the ceiling fell in. a postcard from petrified forest national park dated 2000. a british candy wrapper: "YORKIE: it's NOT for girls!"
chris u: two senior pictures. a scholarly chris you are!
christen b: a las vegas postcard, 2000

geena s: oh my, i have a good collection of you! a cute school shot from '99. a "happy birthday" card, marker on notebook paper, note: "hope you get a prez cuz i'm not getting u one... ;)" three food chain drawings, i think from 8th grade biology. i remember finding them so adorable that i begged you to give them to me to stick them in my binder. here's my favorite. a stick figure drawing of ms. rector as the devil and us nervously asking for our averages.
grant r: picture of you as a baby, with your bear :) the name of which i'll never disclose. a poster you made, i think from junior year history: john gast's american progess, captioned, "the american frontier: it belongs to us, damnit!"
