NEWS FLASH-- Tyler Perry just fired four writers on his sitcom "House of Payne" for seeking a WGA contract. That's right-- Tyler Perry, the "maverick" producer who prides himself on circumventing the "Hollywood System," not only denied his writers the benefits of a Guild deal, but terminated four brave writers for pursuing their legal right to organize.
Consequently, the WGA is staging a massive protest tomorrow (Saturday) at 4pm at the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. I realize this is late notice, but the WGA is seeking your help in one of three ways:
1. Fly to Atlanta to join the protest. (If you can't afford the ticket, the WGA may be able to fly you there using donations from other members & supporters.)
2. Donate money (or frequent flyer points) to fly another member to Atlanta
3. Contact any friends you have in the Atlanta area, and urge them to join the protest.
If you can help in any of those ways, please contact Charles Allen ASAP at callen@wga.org The address for Tyler Perry Studios is 2769 Continental Colony Pkwy SW, Atlanta, GA 30360.
