I just came back from watching The Exorcism of Emily Rose at Matt's. And now be prepared to find out something you probably never knew about Liz.

So I originally avoided the movie because I had no interest in another horror film. One of my friends, however, told me that it was more about the recognition of possession in a court of law. Okay, fair enough. I enjoy reading up on possessions and exorcisms. That came out sorta weird...

For several years now I have been following the works of Priests, professors, and psychologists on the concept of demonic possession. I highly recommend works by Malachi Martin if anyone is interested.

So I watched this movie and afterwards felt a bit frustrated that it was publicized strictly as a horror film. It's not a horror film. And in the featurettes the director is all like "I wanted it to provoke thought." Okay, I'll buy that he wanted to provoke thought...but then why would he try to play it off as horror in trailers and teasers. I swear its more of a courtroom drama than horror.

I found a few things about the movie's replication of the exorcism incorrect according to what I believe and have researched-mainly the fact that I don't personally believe that a person saved by God can be possessed, and allegedly Emily Rose was a devout Christian. I don't know. I was also shocked that Emily was claimed to be possessed by Lucifer himself. I've only read of one other account where the prince allegedly possessed someone. Its normally just a whole bunch of demons, anywhere from 6-14. Its scary.

BUT the movie was very good; it was well written, directed, and the acting is great...props to the girl that portrayed Emily because that was intense.

Oh yeah, and I had butter pecan ice cream for the first time :-)
I liked it. rofflecopter.
