I’m way overdue for an entry.
Christmas break was wonderful. I definitely came out well! What can I say, my family goes nuts when it comes to presents. I got my mom this really awesome massage chair for people who like to read in bed! Dude it comes with a TEA cup holder and a head rest set up with a reading light! It totally went over well. That was probably the most exciting gift. Although, I have to give my dad credit, he did an amazing job this year. He showered my mom with very thoughtful gifts and I’ve never seen her look so happy. It was wonderful to see my mom treated like a Queen. Both my parents are amazing people. I only hope that I find myself as happy as they are in 20 years.
After all the family stuff I came back home to see my city. I love Austin. There is absolutely no other city I would even consider living in Texas. It was complete for the first time in a long time too. Ben and Anne were both in town! I love these two kids. They are wonderful people and I enjoy their company so much. It was so nice seeing Ben again. And I’m not going to get into the whole “I wish we lived in the same city” bit. Yes, we’re apart. It sucks and we make the most of it. But nothing makes me happier than sitting around with him watching bad T.V (or Band of Brothers!!!)
New Year’s was all right. The best part of it was the count down and then sitting in the back of the club with Benjamin people watching. But I learned a big lesson. NEVER GO DOWN TOWN FOR NEW YEARS!!! It was like night of the living dead after two. And it took us about an hour and half waiting for a cab. But the highlight of the night had to be our transportation downtown. Brad, Anne, Ben, and I all were waiting for a cab that was supposed to show up in 20 mins and then take us downtown, but surprise it never showed. After waiting for an hour and forty-five minutes Brad got the bight idea to ask one of the neighbors who he saw taking down Christmas lights. He ran down the street and explained to the man that our cab hadn’t come, and we were trying to be responsible and not drink and drive, and oh could you give us a ride for 20 bucks?? To which the awesome elderly man said “Let me just wash my hands.” His name was Pierre and it turned out he was an old aggie alumni visiting his daughter for the holidays and of all things it turns out that the man lives like two blocks away from my house in Plano! How amazing is that!!!! Oh yeah and he wouldn’t let us pay him for the ride! He promptly said “No keep it and buy another round of drinks for your friends. Happy New Year!”
So after the New Year I got to spend a couple more days with Benjamin before I took him to the airport at 4:30 in the morning on Tuesday. It may be another two and half months before I get to see him again, which will be the longest stretch of time we’ve ever been apart. I’m not happy about this but we’ll manage and figure something out. I hope, I hope, I hope. I was a sad little puppy all Tuesday, except that Karma was in my favor and it was the first day of Victoria’s Semi-Annual sale and I got to shop for my favorite things …PANTIES!!! I love it. So it made me feel a little better, and to top it off TEXAS WON THE ROSE BOWL!!!!! I really haven’t had time yet to be sad about Ben leaving because I’ve been too excited about underwear and football, but I think tomorrow it’s going to hit me. I’ll just keep myself busy getting ready for the upcoming semester with Phi Beta Chi and reading my book.
