Gah, I've fallen a bit behind here I see...which is likely to happen from time to time as things keep busy. I've been getting around outside, however. I'm going to skip saturday, because after the day I'd had at work that day I didn't do ANYthing.
So, Sunday.
As planned, I went out driving with my mom and dad. We like to get out in the fall to go around and see the leaves and whatnot...tourists of our own state? Heh, why not.
We drove up past Bradford and stopped at a little farm mum likes to buy pumpkins at(we'd grown some of our own this year, yes, but we like -lots- of pumpkins around). The air was crisp and fresh that day, the sky a purtyful blue...the only problem with the day was that we headed north expecting to see a heightened fall season, but instead found that it was less colorful than here(probably something to do with warmth coming from the river-vallies we were following).
We took lots of pictures(I'm hoping to be able to upload SOME...), saw some hawks circling above(couldn't tell what kind...probably red-tail from the size though), and a paraglider. o.O
God that looks fun...I'd love to fly. I said something like that in the car and mom just sighed, rolled her eyes and replied, "Like I haven't got enough to worry about already..."
All-in-all, it was a beautiful fall outing. I'm looking forward to doing other fall-like things like apple picking and visiting the cider place over in...wherever it is. Cold Hollow? I can't remember the name. Anyway, cider and doughnuts...that's all I ask!
Monday wasn't very exciting. Mom didn't get any of the stuff she'd wanted to do on sunday because our road trip was a bit longer than planned, so she stayed home monday...Putting up tomatoes and various other stuff from the garden. THat there isn't a very common fall pasttime anymore among americans...but we like the idea that we know exactly what went into our garden, and the end results are usually quite delicious. For some reason everything grew like mad this year...we had an unbelievable ammount of tomatoes, and we're STILL getting the bloody things.
We saw a Red Tail hawk fly over the house too at one point...circling as usual. I love the sound they make...'ki-veeeee!'
That and the owls...they've been hanging around here at nighttime too.
Tuesday...today!
Saw more turkeys today. It's always the bloody turkeys. In the road of course...
Why can't it be a moose?
I suppose it's a good thing I didn't see a Moose...particularly in the road. Not just because I don't really want to hit a moose, but also because I didn't have my camera with me today. I need to carry it around more...hopefully I'll catch one...one of these days.
I also saw a bunch of geese in one of the fields on my way to work...down on Route 4 by all the construction, which surprised me. You'd think those poor birds would take one glance at that rukus and say 'screw that, we're going somewhere else this year...', but no...there were maybe five or six of them gathered by the lil spongy spot on the other side of the granite place there. They were stickin' pretty closer together, so maybe there were more, but whatever their number I don't really blame them...it was COLD today! I stepped outside to leave and it smelled like snow.
SNOW! WHEE!
I like snow.
And fall.
And winter.
I lurv seasons! Guess it's a good thing I live here then...good ol' New Hampshire. I'd hug it if I could without getting dirty in some way...
