Despite a minor setback in my New Year's Eve, it was hella good times...and certainly the most active New Year's Sarah and I have had since we started this New Year's tradition in... I guess 2000?

Previous years we just sat around my house watching movies, talking and drinking either bubbily grape juice (in high school) or wine (last year). This year, the Barenaked Ladies were having a New Year's concert in Tampa, so we decided to make this year a bit more exciting...

So we drove to Brandon a bit early in order to meet my cousin Brenda for dinner, and then Brenda, her fiancee Ron, Sarah and I rode together to the concert. The seats were actually pretty good, since the stage was in the center and we weren't that far off. However, we were in the stuffy "we're-too-lazy-to-stand-or-dance" section, so we had to sit for most of the concert. YARR.

However, BNL played pretty much allllll of our favorites (gotta look to see if I can find a playlist), and were on stage for roughly two and a half hours. Definitely worth the money. Three minutes before midnight, they realized they didn't have enough time to play another song before the New Year, so they played the Hokey Pokey. lmao, I love those guys. Personal favorite of the night was "Call and Answer" because I wasn't expecting them to play it at all. Also cool: They played Feliz Navidad off their Christmas album, but the drummer sang, one of the singers, Ed, played drums, the other singer, Steve, played keyboards.. etc. They all switched instruments. Very impressive.

It was definitely a better show than the one I saw last December because they were the main (and only) attraction and it wasn't meant to be a holiday show. At midnight, all sorts of confetti and balloons poured down on the floor audience and BNL sang their own rendition of Auld Lang Syne (sp). New Year's is another couple's holiday (aren't they all nowadays?), but it was cute watching the guy propose on the big screen and laughing at Sarah as she tried to figure out how to try to call Tom at midnight.

Meanwhile I messaged Jason, since he was at work and especially needing a little cheer since he worked 14 hours yesterday. However technical difficulties with my retarded phone kept me from getting his eight messages until this morning when we were almost home. Silly, silly technology.

Happy 2005, folks.
