So yesterday Frances finally moved onshore (it was about time... talk about over staying your welcome). At around 4 AM Saturday Morning we started feeling the effects... wind gusts and lotsa rain.

When I woke up at 2 PM, our power was flickering so I started to prepare for the worst, but luckily it never really went out. However, my internet went down around 4 PM for whatever reason and didn't start working again until today. So I just sat in our living room watching TV all afternoon. At around 7 PM, I was on the phone with Devin (he's doing well at bootcamp, but he's bored out of his mind and I was the only one who he could get ahold of yesterday, so he was SUPER excited to hear my voice... awwww) when I heard a loud crash and felt the building shake.

Now, Lexington's walls are quite thin, so I just attributed it to various storm matters that had been happening all afternoon. But then Tope (the random roomie) and I heard all sorts of people outside our door and then someone rang our doorbell. So we went outside, in the 30mph wind, to see what everyone was gawking at.

One of the trees right outside our building had fallen on the parking lot. Thankfully it fell that way instead of on the building, but there were a few cars way too close for comfort. And the tree left standing was already starting to lean, so there was a mad dash to find the owners of the nearby cars so that all would be well. About an hour later I heard another crash and then guys that live below me started hollering so Tope and I went out and sure enough, the second tree had fallen. Luckily no damage.

Around 10ish Jonathan braved the storm and came over. We watched Donnie Darko and now our movies-you-should-have-seen sessions are complete.

At around 11 AM today my power went out for about 30 minutes. When I finally fell back asleep, the power kicked back on waking me up. Yarr! Then when I fell back asleep from that, Dustin called (that boy is always calling and waking me up, I swear), but I turned my phone on silent. I should call him back now.

And now we get tomorrow off of school as well, so my labor day weekend has turned out to be a five-day weekend. This makes me so very happy! Other than Frances, it's been a very good Labor day weekend... very good.
