My SCPI for ASL is tomorrow. The SCPI is basically a rating system of how far along you are in your ASL. I have to go to my professor's office and sign with him for roughly 15 minutes, all while he's grading me on my signing. While he has assured us that all of us are far beyond the "survival" rating which is required to get a good grade in ASL 2, I'm still stressed out.
You go into it pretty blind... we have an idea of what possible questions he could ask us, but once the conversation starts we could go off on a tangent about anything. So I'm trying to plan out what I could sign to make sure he asks questions I know how to answer. Ugh.
My friend Gina, who was in my ASL song project group, has the SCPI time immediately after mine. We're chatting on AIM and freaking out together right now. Both of us get really nervous before having to perform signing, so we're both worried about our hands shaking so much that he can't even tell what the hell we're signing.
The good news is that I'm REALLY good at signing now (ASL 2 is amazing), so if you're ever with me and want to have a conversation with me using signs, I'd be more than willing. I can't wait for the Silent Banquet in the Spring now that I'll actually be able to talk to the deaf students instead of just sitting there petrified. AHHHHH. Wish me luck!!!
