let the gator growl!

1) Had dinner with Mishy and one of her friends at Cafe Gardens for pre-Growl. Gator Growl was pretty damn boring. Apparently Ten13 went on waaay early, because we got there at 7ish and, uh, no band. I was really, really sad.

2) The skits were actually pretty funny this year. Of course, you can't go wrong with lots of FSU jokes and making fun of Sexton. lol.

3) Guitar guy singing the cover of "What's Your Fantasy?" by Ludacris was probably the highlight of the whole night. I wonder if he played more before the show? He was hilarious.

4) First comedian was really fun. Props to him.

5) Wayne Brady was booooring. Except for a shining moment with the first improv song (17-year-old in the audience gave the guy some impossible SAT word to put in the rap, so Brady's lyric was: "I don't know what that means, I went to F-S-U!") the bits just dragged on and on. I thought he was going to do stand-up, but no, he did improv. In a stadium with 40,000 people. It would have been alright if there'd been more variety, I guess. I was tempted to leave early but didn't want to miss...

6) the fireworks! I have to wonder how much money was spent on that alone... it was like a 10 minute finale of a regular fireworks show. Just constant fireworks for 10 minutes. Pyromaniacs around Gainesville rejoiced.

7) Completely unrelated, but UM Summer Scholars friends: I just found this! They're still using our quotes from Summer of '02 for the new programs. Nice =) I'm possibly inspiring people to go to UMSS. Very cool.
