Weeeeez

The "Foozer" or "Wee Fighters" show was amaaaaazing.

So the Weezer we saw tonight? A COMPLETELY different band than Sarah and I saw in 2002. And of course a whole lot cooler when they're not hamming for MTV like the show in July. I can't get over how much BETTER they were tonight! In 2002, they all just sort of stayed in their spots and Rivers mumbled, and while they sounded great, it wasn't much for entertainment.

Tonight, they were seriously rocking out and just having a great time. Although, neither Rivers or Scott were wearing their black-framed "Weezer" glasses, which made me very sad. Rivers and Scott kept leaning on each other and at one point Rivers was literally laying on Scott's back before flipping over and landing on his face. LOL. Plus, they did a lot to keep the crowd on their toes... they switched up old songs by letting Brian, Scott or Pat have the spotlight. For Pat's (the drummer) song, Rivers went back and played drums, and at the end Scott and Brian both went back and banged around too while Pat hammed up the stage with his guitar. Classic! Then on Undone, they picked a girl from the audience, taught her the simple notes and let her play along with them. She didn't seem to have any clue as to what she was doing, and I suspect the guitar wasn't even plugged in... but it was her moment and she got to hold hands with Rivers, so hey =).

Rivers quote: "So now we're going to sing a song about a dumb girl. Wait, I mean a dumb song about a girl!" haha.
Or: "This next song is off our second album..." *crowd cheers* "... called Pinkerton..." *crowd cheers louder* lol.

Setlist was something like this:
-When you wish upon a star plays as they take the stage-
Don't Let Go (wish they would open with something stronger... like Dope Nose)
My Name is Jonas
Fall Together
Death & Destruction (Instrumental)
Peace
In My Garage (Scott on Vocals)
No One Else
Perfect Situation
Why Bother (I think this was Brian's song)
El Scorcho
Say It Aint So
We're All on Drugs
Beverly Hills
Buddy Holly
Photograph (Pat on Vocals)

Encore:
Island In the Sun (Rivers only/Acoustic)
Undone
Hash Pipe
Surf Wax America

Album count:
Blue: 7
Pinkerton: 2
Green: 4
Maladriot: 2
Make Believe: 4

I wanted them to play forever, but unfortunately not. Again, I wish they'd been playing by themselves so that we could have gotten more of the obscure songs instead of just the Weez highlights. I find it very interesting that they don't play the Maladriot singles... hmmm. Who knows when they'll be in Florida again, but I already can't wait. *sigh*

Foo Fighters played last, and although Dave Grohl completely outshown Rivers as a frontman (not that hard to do really, but Dave was really great about chatting with the crowd... even gave his beer to someone in the front..lol), the rest of the band was boooooooring. The guitar and bass guitar players just stood there... no personality, no nothing. I guess Dave gives off enough energy for everyone, but come on. I didn't know very many of the songs that they played, but I did recognize "Hero", "Monkey Wrench", "Best of You" and a few others. I think the majority of the crowd came to see them, but Dave alluded that they hadn't been to Florida in forever, so I guess that's to be expected.

Maybe someday I will actually get to hear "The Good Life" or "This is Such a Pity" in person. Until then, I wait.
