Hurricanes.

I'm really worried for the people from New Orleans/Louisiana right now. The eye of Hurricane Katrina is 30 miles wide... To put that into perspective, Hurricane Charley's entire core of hurricane force winds was only 30 miles wide. Katrina's core of hurricane force winds was at 105 miles earlier today. That's just insane. The latest update has her weakened down to about Hurricane Charley force, which will still mean very bad news for New Orleans, but not nearly as bad as earlier today when it was at say, 175 mph winds. *EDIT: Nevermind, apparently it's back to 160 mph. =(

In honor, I decided to finally sit down and watch the Hurricane Charley special my parents taped for me when I went to Ocala with Dan. I've just watched the first ten minutes of it... I never saw any of the footage from when it actually happened, since we lost power pretty much right as it hit Punta Gorda, so it's really weird to actually watch it unfold without being so isolated. I remember hearing the guy talking about being outside the Holiday Inn in Punta Gorda, and then it cutting out. Currently I'm listening to what he said after that. And hearing the warnings they were giving Arcadia, that we never heard.

Brace yourselves, Louisiana.
