Yesterday: Painted my nails black again. It's already peeling off. Note to self when buying black nail polish: the Halloween kind is crap. It must be made to last JUST for the day of Halloween.

Tried to go to my interview with INsite, but it was POURING. And by pouring, I mean it took me nearly 30 minutes to get from Lexington to the INsite office (on the way downtown, past farah's and all that). It was raining so hard that there was no way I could even SEE the office building, so I finally pulled into a parking lot and called Jaya (the managing editor) and she said we could definitely reschedule for Friday. So I made my way back out to the road to meet a river running down the road. Literally. I was really worried about getting stuck, especially as I saw the car in front of me drive through an intersection where the water was coming from two different directions (the river flowing my way was meeting a cross-street and its river). At this intersection, a man-hole lid was being pushed up by the water beneath it, much like the scenes I saw after the hurricanes. Freaky.

I definitely had a Finding Neverland moment envisioning a raft full of monkeys (think Jumanji) floating down the river next to me. I made it home in one piece, thankfully. It stopped raining for a couple hours... it waited until I was in my car on the way to the Voting meeting before it started pouring again. Kelly O, Christie and I (nus! woot!) waited for it to calm down a bit, and then started walking up to the meeting room. We made a pit stop at the Rawlings bus stop so that they could roll up their jeans... as we were standing there it starting pouring even worse. Waxlax Jr. caught up with us, we waited a bit and then braved the rain. All of us had umbrellas thankfully, but it was a bit scary because lightning kept flashing around us. As we walked up the hill by the CSE building, this river of water came flowing down the hill completely soaking whatever was left dry from our knees down. It was crazy!

By the time we made it to the meeting room my flip-flops and the sleeves/back of my hoodie were soaked. Thankfully I was wearing shorts so no problem there. After the 5 1/2 hour voting meeting they were mostly dry.

Today: Had the interview for real. Found out that the parking lot I pulled into during the rainstorm to call Jaya was literally two feet away from the INsite office. Funny how that works. Jaya is really cool... probably mid-20s. We talked for a while and I expressed my interest in local bands/music and I literally thought she was going to hug me: "Every girl that comes in here only wants to write about fashion!!!" lol. Not me! Soooo... she hired me on the spot. I'm now a writer for INsite magazine. WOOOOOO! My first assignment is to help her with this story she's doing on the top ten local bands in Gainesville. Suggestions guys? I mentioned my close relationship with Fick and she said that was funny because they're doing a showcase on them this month. Awww...

Then I went and delivered bids to the Pis. Specifically my grand-little Anna and my... well... If Mike is my nephew and Sam is Mike's little, what does that make her? lol. My grand-niece? I don't know. lol. Perdomo and the family purchased these nifty lazer tag things from Walmart. The rest of the family couldn't come, so Cushing stepped in as part of the family. We drove to Sam's and had her come down in a bright outfit and then Cushing/Perdomo played one-on-one lazer tag with her so she could earn a seat in the car. Then we drove to pick up Anna... same deal except this time it was me, Cushing and Perdomo vs. Anna and Sam. I'm sure it was comical to watch me run around with a lazer gun/goggles wearing a skirt/flip-flops around Hume (the honors dorm). There were definitely some confused honors kids wandering around giving us strange looks. Well, it was a bust because the guns messed up, but I killed Anna! She may have let me, but it was a kill nonetheless. As we were trying to think of funny tasks for them to finish, Natalie and Evie drove up, so we migrated to Turlington and had Anna/Evie do their Brothers Are We dance for us. Quite good times. I swear... if Cushing's family wasn't cool, we'd steal him away. He totally fits in.

More later, after Natalie's 80s party and such. =)
