I'm still alive, I promise, there's just nothing particularly exciting or worth updating going on in my life. Just kind of coasting. I should man up and get some resumes out to zoos and parks and such before the end of the year, as a New Year's Resolution, maybe. Once again, just kind of spinning my wheels at this job, I'm at the point where everything I make goes right back out again in the form of student loans, car payments, etc. Need something better-paying, or I need to readjust my spending habits. I dunno, I'm not particularly frivolous with them, exceeept where f'ing Blizzard is concerned. I'm one step ahead of my own game, though! >:| I took on some WoW-themed portrait commissions in this style:

I have two done so far (well, one completely finished and one still waiting on final approval from the commissioner), one to go. $90 in all, not a huge amount but it's enough to pay for a server and two racechanges when Cata hits. Except now I want to revive Jenlok as a druid so I'll probably take on some more anyway raaar.

ANYWAY this isn't a WoW post, my point is that I have fun painting in this style, but the commitment of it is kind of tedious, since I work on them as soon as I get home from my kennel job. Feels like working two jobs, and they both pay for shit. Yaaay~

I'unno. Can't say that I'm depressed, but can't say that I'm exactly happy either. Well, who the hell is? Ahwell. Seeing Maren and maaaybe hopefully Liz B. tomorrow? If we can get ahold of her. My weekly allotted socialization! I wish there were some good movies playing. I am excited for Voyage of the Dawntreader next month. Such a fantasy nerpdederp nerd.

Anyway. Yeah, mostly just been painting and derping around on KMC lately. I don't think I've talked about it here but I downloaded Paint Tool SAI a month ago and have been playing with it regularly, ended up buying it after the 31-day trial expired. It's the new love of my life, sorry OpenCanvas. Very intuitive and smooooth, I really love the "feel" of the brushes and such. SOME DAY, I still want to get my grubby little hands on a copy of Painter. Some day.

Been feeling sort of wistful the past couple of days, not really listening to any omfg intense music (which is... startling, considering my foaming affection for ridiculous over-the-top symphonic speed metal). A lot of Regina Spektor, Cat Power, and Florence and the Machine.

One of my favorite recordings of this song, her voice is just so soft and haunting.

I really like "Eet" by her too, but this one just has such a wistful, Joni Mitchell-ish sound to it.
