Authors Note: I'm not very fond of this one really. It doesn't feel quite... finished. But any atempts made to fix it make it worse. But hey, Lori, likes it, so, whatever.

Chris loved him. It was a realization that struck him out of nowhere, one afternoon after a particularly annoying customer had angered Parker enough for him to close shop for a few minutes so he could calm down. Not like it mattered as they rarely got customers to begin with. All he had been doing was sitting there, enjoying the sounds and smells of the espresso machine, watching Parker sulk in a chair, when it hit him.

He loved him.

Well, he thought to himself, this was weird. How does one fall in love with Parker Terrence Jones? It just shouldn’t happen. And if it’s going to, I would appreciate some more warning, thanks. Parker is a cynical, slightly crazy man, who has the ability to project an aura of ‘whatever’ for up to three meters around him. And, he is very good at keeping his thoughts to himself, so that even I can’t read them. But-

Christopher jumped, letting out a strangled scream. He hit his employer in the arm. “Don’t do that!”

“Don’t do what?” Parker reached around him and turned off the espresso machine, grabbing his mug from underneath it.

“Sneak up on me like that,” Chris made a face. “It’s creepy the way you can do that. I can’t even sense you at all!”

Parker smirked. “Good. If you can’t sense me, then I’m getting better at creeping. Now if only I could creep up on those damned ghosts as well as I can creep up on you. Then, maybe, I wouldn’t have to make traps or chase them just so I can talk to them.” He downed half of his coffee in one gulp. Chris stared. It was still boiling, and he hadn’t added any milk or anything… “Most people are stupid while they’re alive, but they seem to get worse after they’re dead.”

Chris nodded, and laughed. “They really do, don’t they?”

Parker blinked, put down his mug, and leaned close to him. Chris pressed himself into the bench in an attempt to move away, flushing. Too close, thanks, boss man; now, please move, he thought anxiously.

After a moment of intense scrutiny, Parker pulled away, and wandered calmly back to the front door. Chris let out a shuddering breath, quietly as he could. Parker removed the “back in fifteen” sign and replaced it with “closed”, then turned to Chris. “I owe you lunch. Come on.”
