We went to see X-Men 3 yesterday.

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I was expecting pretty bad, because everyone was saying how bad it was, and it really wasn't that bad. Yes, it wasn't as good as the first two. But it was still an enjoyable movie.

I think the main problem that people have with it is that they try to do way too many things in this one, and therefore none of the plot points or characters are really explored. It was like they wanted to stuff as many different plots as possible into one movie, and it just didn't work. They ended up rushing through stuff that should have been explored more than it was. Certain characters weren't in the movie nearly as long as the previews made them out to be; other characters disappear altogether.

I have a feeling that the other thing that people are disappointed with is the fact that they killed off multiple main characters, including killing off Cyclops fairly needlessly early on. I mean, you don't even see him die, and you don't really get confirmation that he has died. I didn't think that part was handled very well.

I also have a feeling that maybe one of the reasons people are so upset is because they kill off Professor X. Which I'm guessing is why people who have seen it and say it's good say "you have to stay through the credits!" so that you can see that he's not really dead after all, supposedly. Or something. I don't care, I'm sad because there's no more Patrick Stewart, and I thought he was an awesome Professor X.

Then of course there's the fact that they seem to be promoting Angel as being a main character in this movie, and he's really not at all. He's barely in it. Beast is in it more, but really none of the new characters introduced are given much in the way of character development.

Except Storm. Halle Berry needs less lines. She pisses me off. I don't like her. I wish they had gotten someone else to play storm. She never should have had as big of a part in this one as she did, and I think it's all because Halle Berry is a whiny bitch who complained and threatened to leave if she didn't have a bigger part, and that just pisses me off. Grow up, Halle. You're not that great. You don't make a very good Storm.

Other than that though I felt like they stayed pretty true to those characters that have been in all three. The action was pretty good, and there were some good lines as well.

Also I have this thing for Hugh Jackman, but only when he's playing Wolverine. I don't feel the same way about him when he's in anything else, or when he's being interviewed. I never even really liked Wolverine, but for some reason, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine just does it for me. A lot. Sort of like the way Russel Crowe doesn't do it for me, but when he was in Gladiator he did. I don't know, I don't understand it, but I'm sure that it helped make the movie more enjoyable for me in general.

I've heard that they're going to make more movies, spinoffs and such, but that this is it for the main stuff. I don't know if that's really true, and I don't know if they'll stick to it anyway, I guess it will depend. I will be disappointed if they end up screwing everything up more. It's ok that this one wasn't as good, because I thought the other two were so excellent, but if they start making more sub-par movies, I'll have to start ignoring them, which is sad.
