I now have a new favorite movie of 2007, well one of the tops and it's not even a scripted feature film. It's a documentary called 'The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters' the story of 'the little guy' an honest humble family man who got laid off from his job and found a goal to achieve: Beating Billy Mitchell's high score of the Donkey Kong arcade game. By the end of the film you'll feel like you'll want to cry. A brilliant idea for a film to follow 'one of us' to take on the big shot, Billy(who in the entire film acts just like that, a stuck up arrogant hypocrite who can't stand being second fiddle to an average joe) and his cronies of Twin Galaxies, the record holding trackers.

You really don't have to know or love video games to enjoy the film. And sure you can laugh at the the thought that there are people who actually act this way over a video game. And it's not so much of an educational documentary, but an entertaining realistic perspective of how crazy these record holders are and the crap this one guy has to go through. I hear that after it was filmed and before its theatrical release, Mitchell had to be number one, but there's no doubt in my mind that if Billy keeps setting his records, Steve(our protagonist) will just knock him off his high horse.
