It's the start of a long weekend, after only 3 days of work following Christmas vacation. Feels pretty decadent, especially considering how long I slept in this morning. I woke up at 7, and was very sneezy and stuffed-up, and at 8 I gave up and read in bed for awhile, before falling back asleep. I think it was my body telling me I needed the extra rest because I felt much better after I got up. Anders (who has been sick all last week) just got the results back from his PCR test: negative, so at least whatever he and Karin had wasn't COVID.
Today is gorgeous, sunshine and clear blue skies, but very cold. We actually had snow yesterday in the late afternoon, and I figured it was a manifestation of my super powers: I had just put my snow boots and heavy winter coat away in the front hall closet! hahaa! I'd much rather have snow than rain, which is what it was doing the entire day beforehand (and later as well).
Debbie had called me on Tuesday to ask if I was available for dinner with her and Camilla last night and since I had the day off today, I was very happy to say yes. Sometimes Camilla cooks, but she didn't have time yesterday so instead we ordered from Restaurang Nils and went and picked it up. We spent a really nice evening talking about all kinds of things. I'm very lucky to have these two excellent friends here in my life. I honestly don't know what I'd do without them.
Martin and I went for a walk about the village about 30 minutes ago, and it was so nice to be in the sunshine and moving. I've been a bit of a slacker the past couple of weeks but really need to get going on my walking again. Karin is coming over this afternoon, and I hope we can get our thank you cards written so I can get them mailed next week, and then Anders' sister and husband are coming for dinner. We're having a favorite dish: chicken with a gorgonzola topping, rice, and salad, and Anders is making cheesecake for dessert. Yum!
Tomorrow I will call my mom, and maybe finish up my blog book, which I finally got PDF'd and into layout. I've been sort of thinking about goals and resolutions this year, as I didn't plan to do anything like my 5K every month from last year. I am really not sure what I'd like to accomplish this year, other than getting to see my family. Maybe an update of my cookbook? Maybe another "best of" from my Livejournal? Hmmm... I don't care about words of the year or anything like that, but a doable goal for the year is like a 12-month to-do list, and you know how I feel about to-do lists. :)
