So I got to perform my first surgery by myself this week.....

Okay so it wasn't a heart transplant or anything. In fact it was pretty gross seeing as how I got to debride a disgusting diabete foot ulcer = taking off all the dead, pus filled tissue. This patient that I had seen every day for the past 2 weeks was getting a permcath put int (which is an IV for dialysis access), not a big operation or anything and then we were going to debride her foot ulcer, even though what she really needs is an amputation but she wont agree to it so my attending told her he'd try to debride it and see what happens. Dr. Rama had our intern help him put in the permcath, despite the fact that our intern is an idiot. After we got the permcath in, we took down the drapes to get ready for the foot debridement, and Dr. Rama looks at me, goes "You're doing the debridement. Have a nice afternoon everyone." and walked out of the OR! Leaving me to do the debridement!! It was AWESOME......
