y''know, instead of sitting on posts for an eternity, I should just POST THEM. duh.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

My trip to Arizona ...
For spring vacation we drove to the Grand Canyon first. MrLiz thought it'd take longer and I was all "no, it'll be fine, really, we'll get there before dark. really." And of course we were. Because yo, I've driven it at 80 and that was before they raised the speed limit to 75 in parts. It was fun doing that drive having been to Carsland in Disneyland lately, since that section is what CARS is inspired by. we brought dvds for the player in the car, but kiddo didn't even want to play them - both so he could look out the window and because he wanted to play Minecraft on the tablet. *siiiigh*
Anyway the Grand Canyon is awesome of course, though it was pretty chilly when we were there - we were a bit unprepared for the daytime temp to be just above freezing and kidlet is now the proud owner of a new hat and mittens he'll probably not wear again.
After that we drove down to Phoenix/Scottsdale for a few days. On the way we stopped by Sunset Crater and holy shit, I did not realize that mountain erupted as recently as a thousand years ago. The lava field looks pretty much the same as the lava flow on the Big Island - the power of the tropics/water breaking it down faster. Anyhoo, so that was an interesting side trip and then we spent a few days in the sun and warmth - had beautiful weather and went to the pool and went to Taliesin West, the Frank Lloyd Wright house and architecture school. Kidlet, despite his mad drawing skillz, wasn't quite as interested as I thought he might be - definitely more of a budding engineer than architect, it seems. (tho speaking of, I should start a tumblr just to show off his designs. some of them are craaaaaaazy elaborate.)
We got behind on tv while we were gone, but I did get the new DW. WHY SO FUN, SHOW??? Claraaaaaa. Elevennnn
(though, Omg, y'all is it true that the place River met Ten in the Library was called the Shop? Because I saw that on tumblr and I didn't actually dare to go back and watch that to confirm it myself, because, y'know, TEARS). But even though I don't actually disagree about some of the criticisms I read, I just don't even care. Also, Jenna Louise-Coleman was ADORB on the radio when there was only one other person who had seen the show and they were trying to explain it to the other hosts. it was hilarious.
Walking Dead. I don't even know why I watch sometimes, since they continually fritter away all kinds of story potential. and it's the weirdest thing - someone, somewhere is doing it, but I can't figure it out. Is kirkman trying to undo things he things were mistakes in the books and making things worse? Is AMC putting some weird pressure on them? I just don't get it. Anyway, that was watched. (best part honestly was the Andrew Lincoln bit in the Talking Dead right after - unnnnngh. I wish they could let Rick talk in that accent.)
Let's see, in writing, I haven't done much (I did a bit by hand on vacation, but that always takes so long - I feel like I did a lot and then I type it up and it's like a paragraph...) except I did finish a short, sad Kara/Sam story that's been lingering for awhile. So that needs posting.
