In Honour of More Joy Day: Pretender Picspam!
Don't worry, I'm still gonna do that s1 episode recaps post, but knowing me I thought it might take longer than I'll have at work today, and me and Mike are gaming tonight. And I really, REALLY wanna post something for More Joy Day! So, I present the folowing picspam, which effectively boils down to: Jarod, and how he excells at childish wonder.
There are Pretenders amoung us. Freaky smart prodigies who can just imagine themselvs as other people, down to the skillsets and emotions, and thus do pretty much anything. Don't think too hard about how.
Once upon a time, like in the 60's, a scary bunch of MKULTRA-types called "The Center" kidnapped stole bought bred who the fuck knows aquired a cute lil pretender named Jarod who demonstrated his amazing superior pretenderness by building the empire state building out of Legos.
This so impressed the center that they kept him in a box for the next thirty years, deprived him of friends, most human contact, pop-culture, christmas presents, non-educational toys, and childhood in general, and made him run through simulations so they could sell the results to the highest bidder. Which, you know, sometimes did awesome stuff like solves unsolvable crimes and cure disease and build better mousetraps moonlanders, but sometimes it let them fight better wars, perform more efficient assasinations and determine the most deadly bioweapon deployments.
Did you miss the part where they were a soulless corperation? Jarod did. Well, for thirty years or so. But he did find out eventually.
And then, one day, thier pretender ran away....
...and that's where the TV show picks up!
And because Jarod was kept in the aformentioned box for 30 years (and because he's utterly adorkable), at least once an episode we get to watch him discover some aspect of everyday life he's never seen before with childlike joy and wonder!

Well, actually, he was already familiar with snowglobes, but he loves them a lot, for spoilery reasons.
We also get to see Jarod enjoying the hell out of himself while Pretending to be:
A conductor!
A test pilot!
A skydiving instructor!
However the Center is still after him, so sometimes we get to see Jarod have fun while escaping them and doing things like:
Hiding under a bed!
Phoning them in the middle of the night to annoy them while wearing googly eye glasses!
Jumping the border (causing them to chase him south), no, no, the OTHER border!
Not pictured: (because I couldn't find decent caps of them): Jarod discovering spam, Jarod playing with slinkies, Jarod pigging out on donuts, Jarod playing in the snow, Jarod lecturing his pursuers on how they just stepped into the world's biggest roach motel because he rigged the room with the goop from one. XD
GOD I LOVE THIS SHOW!
[Miss Parker:] Maybe I should send you to every Y.M.C.A. in the country first. Or lock you in the Bates Motel with Sydney and Broots.
[Jarod:] This is about that strip search in Las Vegas, isn't it?
