*eyes inbox fearfully*

Honestly, I *WILL* get to posting replies, and answering other mail, I will!

I just...

I badly need to blow off steam with something FUN, because they are honest to god working me to DEATH over there - though morale and conditions have improved a bit.

Uhm - not going to do a fill-in-on-my-life post right now - too much to go into.

Basicly doing f'list dump - even if I havn't seen all of it yet - memes and cool links and so on.

For the love of god, PLEASE let THIS be genuine. Cause really, short of raising Tony Jay from the dead, you CANNOT do better. You just can't.

And in the "wacky web-toy" department: Kung-Fu Grip! A fantastic stress reliever, especially if a raw egg or bottle of mustard has done something to offend you lately. ...okay, honestly, I just like watching things get smushed. In many ways, I'm still three years old at heart.

Well, having been tagged by like everybody, here is me doing the "what does your screen-name mean?" meme.

Hokay, well the "Liza" part should be bloody obvious. (Though I suppose I could go back to high-school days and tell how that got started - I mean why I don't go my Elizabeth or Liz or Beth or Betty or....) But as for the "ManyNames" bit... well, that actually has a story, beyond the obvious.

Okay. In White Wolf's old RPG Werewolf: the Apocalypse, there's a race of were-coyotes called the Nuwisha. The oldest and most famous of these is Old Man Many Skins, called that because he has the unique gift of being able to masquerade as ANYTHING or ANYONE - the tell tale being when he ends a role, he leaves his skin behind. I played a Nuwisha character who so successfully juggled THREE identities at once that out-of-character the Storyteller took to calling me Young Woman Many Names - and that actually because her honest-to-Coyote deed-name. Well.... one of them. ;)

Around the same time, I was starting to get really involved in online communities, and I developed the habit of adopting a new screen name for each one, each fandom, because I loved having something related to the fandom I was in - and thus didn't want to carry over a name from one to the other.

So when I got an LJ - having learned the lesson of having had to post non-matrix related fic under the moniker "LadySmith" at ff.net - I decided I should use a "core" name, something stripped of fandoms, or at least not totally fandom specific. But just plain "Liza" was taken so, hearkening back to my beloved Kate, I tried youngwomanmanynames - which was too many letters. So I found a happy medium, and have really never regretted it.

The fandom-in-one-sentence meme has resurfaced, which made me go back to the last time I did it, which made me realize there was a bunch of un-replied-to comments there - so I replied to them, because I'm a weirdo like that.

Summarize 10 of your fandoms in one sentence, then see who on your friends list can guess each fandom.

1. The one where even the daddy-issues have daddy-issues - and then get together with mommy-issues and have little daughter-issues.

2. The one where it's a really good thing it's not against the law to be vaguely gay, is all I can say.

3. The one where everybody dies in the end - no, no, on Earth.

4. The one where a third of the dialogue needed subtitles - no matter where it was broadcast.

5. The one with two men and a woman, on a very ill-advised roadtrip.

6. The one with just two men, on an even less-advised, never-ending roadtrip.

7. The one where everybody's living inside a giant computer - but they know they are.

8. The one with the midget who talked forward, the ultimate evil who thought he was a good guy, the chosen one of the forces of good who thought he was evil, and the really creepy and obscure Heinlein reference.

9. The one where Ben Browder and Claudia Black try desperately not to make eyes at each other - and usually succeed.

10. The one that makes you wonder if the US Government actually spends that much on hair-care products and therapy for Daddy issues - no, the *original* one.

And finally, because it's the only one from the last one that nobody got:

11. The one where space aliens crash land on prehistoric earth, and eventually evolve into living receptacles for concentrated angst - and by the way, it's fantasy, not SF.

1. Scan my list of interests. List the one that seems the most odd/interesting/whatever to you in the comments below.
2. I’ll explain it or why I have it listed.
3. Pass the meme on if you so wish.

Arvin Sloane: Marshall, would you please go back to work?
Agent Marshall Flinkman: Just to clarify, I'm not being fired?
Arvin Sloane: Back to work means not fired.
