Did you know that alcohol is really just a very complex sugar?
Why the fuck is the key pad on your computer and calculator BACKWARDS from the one on your phone?
My aunt forgot my birthday! [Edit: Upon clarification from
mike_mccall, no, what she forgot was my birthday card.] And this doesn't actually bother me like it bothered me when I suspected she did - I guess because she remembered, and has something on the way. Though I strongly suspect she was actually reminded by her daughter
scifirogue - who read it on my LJ. Or from my dad, who did remember - though it wouldn't have bothered me if he did forget, cause he's my dad. I mean - if he remembers his own age, he's doing well. And it's not that he has Alzheimer's or anything, he's just Dad. The day he can't list off every main character in all the Star Trek series, then I'll worry about his mind unravelling. If we ever die and donate our bodies to science, they'll be able to isolate the "scatterbrained geek" gene.
The fact that I actually, seriously, considered writing a full academic paper, citations and everything, on code-switching among the Gift Card French operators in the call centre shows that I think I'm ready to go back to school, as soon as I can afford it.
I love how shit in a dream can make perfect sense while it's happening, but when you look back on it is just... WTF? Like them making a sequel to The Matrix Trilogy, and casting Keanu as one of the next generation (because uhm, Neo wasn't IN it in this world, or something), and our car being impounded by Walmart, and the main characters being me and Mike half the time and the Doctor and Ace half the time (all the 7/Ace shippers go nuts)... yeah. Dream logic.
I need a web-toy or windows add-on or something that imitates one of those news room clock walls - you know, that shows the time zones? What time it is now in London, New York, Tokyo... Except mine would be Adalade, Sydney, Austin/Dallas, Idaho, Florida, Winnipeg.
I think the next book I'm gonna read at work (now that I've finished All Tomorrow's Parties - cheers,
urrah!) is a re-read of Friday - which is all
wordboy's fault.
Now that I've decided to put up a Master-List for the Canadian Lyric Wheel and let people post their own - I should get mine beta'd, shouldn't I? Fuck.
Paul Goddard actually seems to be happy about the fact I exist. Acayib.
I really need/want an x-mas icon. Eh, I have a couple I can upload. Which leads to: I think my entire stock of icons is due for an overhaul.
Other things I need/want/would like to do today:
- GCLW Master List
- Icons
- Get to bank before 3pm
- grocery shopping
- Mail-out for Aurora sponsor volunteers
- Arrange a stress-releasing, fun activity for Mike
- Figure out what I'm taking to the pot-luck at work
- work on Kaz's birthday fic some more
I am actually at the "Socrates" level of computer know-how: I know just enough to know how very little I know. ;)
