getting used to things here, can even begin to see the 'westernized' city that everyone told me accra was...here's a short list of things I am now used to...
.trotros, minibusses that are privately owned and the cheapest way of getting around, although most of them vaguely resemble death traps, with rust and sharp edges in every direction
.water in a bag. like milk in a bag, but without a straw, you rip a corner off with your teeth.
.the accent. it was hard to understand english at first.
.twi. the local language. medaaaaasepapapa (thank you very much).
.throwing used toilet paper in the garbage next to the toilet and not in the toilet (a hard habit to break).
.not having a garbage can anywhere else in the country and so seeing trash everywhere, mostly in the sewer/gutters that line both sides of every street
.being stared at and called white person. i now know the twi name for black person, which is funny to say back to kids.
