There was a polite knock on the guest room of St. Catherine's, immediately followed by Liz' voice. "Terence? Are you there? Can I come in ( Read more... )

Hanging upside-down in a nearby tree, Katelyn watched over a corner of the St. Catherine's campus from her inverted angle. Whereas earlier in the summer she trained almost constantly while not in classes, primarily to give her something to do, recently she could be found enjoying the warm summer days that were similar to the climate she was most used to.

Several students came and went, but none looked up or even noticed the wild girl. No one ever looks up, she silently mused, thinking of how effective a tactic that proved to be for most predators. Luckily, she had no interest in swooping down to pounce upon any of the wandering schoolgirls.

But one student did catch Katelyn's eye. Liz had wandered out of the main building, and was slowly searching the area as if looking for someone or something. Curious as to what she might be doing, Kate dropped down from her overhead perch. With quick swinging motions, she rapidly descended from the top of the tree in what could be more accurately described as a controlled fall than actually climbing downward. One arm at a time, she swung to progressively lower branches, until she was left hanging from the bottommost limb from both hands.

"What're you doing?", she asked in a friendly tone while her body still swayed from her previous momentum. Letting go, she dropped the final three or four feet to the ground. "You are, looking for something, yes? Can I, help you to find it?"

The young Seer looked startled up when she heard her friend's voice, but it got quickly replaced by a genuinely happy smile.

"No, that is not necessary anymore," Liz told the other, still smiling. "Because I have already found what I am looking for." She put her arms around Katelyn. "Because I was looking for you. So in a way you did already help me to find what I was looking for?"

The girl giggled softly at what she had just said. "Terence found work," Liz then told her friend. "He found work and a newe house. Well, the work isn't certain yet, but he'll have a talk with someone tomorrow. But I have this feeling he will be accepted and that he will be working on Monday. But for his new house, all his belongings have to be moved from the guest room to this new house. And he has to buy new things as well. Would you like to help with moving as well?"

Katelyn smiled softly with the sudden hug, but grew quite excited upon hearing the good news.

"He did? That is, wonderful! He seemed...very busy, and very stressed. I'm glad he has found a place now." There was a short pause, as she fully comprehended what all that meant. "But now, he will not be here, yes? If he came here to be with you, then why does he leave?"

But, Liz didn't seem very upset, and she knew more than Katelyn did. Giving the smaller girl in her arms a very light squeeze for comfort, Kate didn't worry much about that matter and instead turned her mind to the task at hand. "I would be happy, to help you and Brother Terence. If you need me, then I will try my best."

"I know he will leave, but he will live in the town, so I can still visit him every day." Liz grew excited at that idea, realizing only now that she really, really could see Terence every day, just like before. "We could go together. After classes. I'll take pies and cakes and such with me and we could study there together. Don't you think that'd be great?"

She smiled, suddenly blushing at her own outburst. "But... we should first help it out with moving things. And maybe accompany him to stores to get a bed and a chair and... that kind of things. Shall we go then? He's still in his room, waiting for us..."

"That sounds like great fun," Katelyn exclaimed while picking the smaller girl up and doing a half-turn with Liz in her arms.

"You would help me study? I'm not as good, at the classes as you are. I probably would have to come every day if I want to be as talented as Liz." She then giggled slightly at her own admission. "I would be happy to go with you."

"I'll race you there," she called out playfully as she took off for the dorms.

Liz giggled when Katelyn suddenly picked her up. "I'll help you. I'd love to help you." Arms slowly slid down a little and settled around Katelyn in a tight hug. "I'll help you with everything you need help with."

She gave a short exclaim from surprise when Katelyn suddenly rushed towards the dorms, but her moment of fright soon changed into laughter. "Katelyn~!" Liz held on even tighter to the other girl and buried her face in her friend's neck. "I'm not to heavy, right?"

Kate stumbled the slightest bit when Liz asked her that question. Not because of the weight, since Liz was a relatively light load for a Slayer to carry, but because Katelyn had inadvertently forgot to let go of her friend before taking off towards the guest room in a mad dash.

Quickly regaining her footing, she joined Liz in her laughter as they continued on towards the main building, despite some odd stares from passers-by. "I can hold you," she reassured the girl in her arms.

Careful to make sure she had a secure hold of her delicate cargo, she then sped up, a playful grin on her face. Since Liz seemed to enjoy the sudden trip, Katelyn pushed herself to run as fast as two legs could carry them. As the wind rushed through their hair, it no longer mattered that there was no 'race' left to win.

Liz squealed a bit when Kate picked up the pace. She tightened her grip around the other girl, pushed her face in Kate's neck and closed her eyes. A part of her was afraid that Katelyn would fall or something like that. But this fear got overruled by a strange excitement and a feeling that she was flying.

They soon arrived at the guest room and Liz opened her eyes slowly again when her friend had stopped running. She smiled a bit embarrassed at her own silly behaviour, kissed Katelyn lightly on her cheek and then wriggled free to open the door.

"Terence?" she asked as they both entered the room. "Katelyn says she wants to help as well. Right, Katelyn?"

Lost in her own thoughts for a moment, Katelyn did not reply at first until she took notice of the sudden silence. "Oh! Right! I'll help you, too..."

Stepping into the room herself, she began to look around, sizing things up and trying to think of how they were going to move everything. "I am glad, that you found work, and are no longer worried," she said to Terence. "What will you be doing? Is it something that you enjoy?"
