OOC: Taken place that night after the fight. Still open to anyone who wants to visit them.Liz sat next to the bed where Kate lay. Night had fallen over St. Catherine's, many hours had passed since the fight. The girl - the original cause of the fight, although she still had no idea what she had done wrong - remembered little of what had taken place

A meter beeped it's steady pace ominously through the silence, monitoring the girl's heart as blood trickled into her veins from plastic bags suspended on metal hooks. A noise like the faint rushing of wind indicated that air was being pumped into her lungs, keeping her alive. It seemed almost wrong for so plain and natural a girl to be connected to so many machines and so much technology. But now alone in the room, Katelyn lay there oblivious to anything but the dark, quiet world she now found herself trapped in.
((OOC: Second set of comments since there's two patients in two different rooms. Not that Kate's going to say anything, but in case anyone happens to drop by.)) ^_^;

"I hope you'll get better soon. I'm sorry I couldn't be here sooner, I was caught up in some extra stuff for teachers. And I had to get you a get-better-soon present, of course."

As she walked past the door to the Intensive Care Unit, she could have sworn she saw her roommate sitting there talking to someone. Backing up, she peered into the room. "Yo, Ralphie! You know which room they keepin' Prof. Fong in? I..." Her eyes then fell on a girl lying unconscious on a hospital cot, heavily bandaged and with a tube down her throat. That didn't look like the result of some after-school fistfight. "Dammit, girl, what happened here?"
((OOC: Just realized my planning for this thread was a little poor. Problem is that if Kate's unconscious she can't reply, and even once she does come to she's won't be able to say anything because of the ventilator. *sweatdrops* So here's Jessie, to keep it from being that all of Kate's visitors are your own characters talking amongst themselves.)) ^_^;;

She didn't really know many of the people involved, aside from Akiko whom she had only met under similar circumstances. "Mainly come down ta see how Soi was doin'," Jessie answered. "She come visit me when I was all messed up a few weeks back. Figured I'd return the favor, but I didn't see her round yet." She then nodded her head towards the bedridden girl. "They all this bad tore up?"

Everything hurt.
Katelyn's world slowly began to come into focus as she lay there helpless, gazing upward into the fluorescent lights. Her eyes still appeared glassy, glossed over and not all-together there. It took several hours to regain her strength from the blood transfusion, but gradually she began to come to.
"Hardheaded, is what you mean," Jessie agreed, wearing a similar wry smirk as Ralph. She considered herself the quintessential 'tough girl', but these Slayer students certainly took that to the next level.
Voices? Sounds of conversation helped Katelyn to draw her mind out of the haze it had been mired in. She tried to move, but all she felt was a deep ache when her body informed her that it was still to weak to respond. A small groan was the only outcome of that futile action, and about the only response she could give.

She looked up when her ears picked up a small, soft groan. "Looks like she's about to wake up," Ralph said softly. She stood up to bend over Kate, looking concerned at the girl. "Hey, Katie? You alright, girl? No, don't try to talk, you can't talk right now."

She looked around with a listless gaze, trying to figure things out. As her wits slowly started to return she began to realize that something was terribly wrong - she didn't have the strength to move, her arm was pierced with needles, her chest was taped up to wires, she was surrounded by all sorts of machines and she was choking on some sort of plastic tube that had been shoved into her mouth. A sputtering cough followed, as well as a pleading look as if her friend would somehow be able to help.

She grasped Kate's hand and squeezed it gently. "I'll make a doctor come. Uhm..." Ralph looked up to Jessie. "Jessie? Could you tell the doctor that Kate's awake? Maybe some of these tubes and machines aren't necessary anymore."

I don't like this. I don't want to be here. I want to be out...I want to go...
Katelyn's thoughts were pretty obvious by the look on her weary face. The more and more aware she became, the more worried and even scared she appeared. Soon a few streaks of water silently trickled down from the corners of her eyes as she began to realize just how helpless she was.

"There's no need for that," a new voice called out sweetly. Liz moved over to Kate's bed and took her other hand. "It's alright, Katelyn. I'm here now. Everything will be alright, trust me."
She placed one hand on where she could see the knife had punctured the lung, wishing she could do something to heal that spot so Katelyn could get off the respirator.
OOC: Up to you on whether it just takes away the pain or more. Told you she was a walking healing kit? XD Powers start to show up a little bit.

She tried to squeeze back with trembling hands, but she still felt weak, and even more so she felt like a failure. She hadn't been able to protect Liz at all. Liz had gotten hurt because she hadn't been there for her. But both of her closest friends were there for her, standing beside her, and that seemed to make her feel just a little bit better.
She closed her eyes in guilt and shame, but soon she began to wonder why she felt so relaxed despite pain both physical and emotional. Those eyes then blinked open, realizing that she really didn't even hurt nearly as bad as she had been. Something was going on, something strange. It should hurt when someone touches a fresh wound...shouldn't it? Instead Liz's very touch felt soothing, comforting, as if there was no way that Kate could be worried or hurt as long as they were together. Again she gazed upward at her lover and most special friend, this time in relief as she trusted Liz that everything truly would be all right.

"You were really great, you know," she said softly while she let her hand on the wound, continuing to wish it would be healed soon. "You were brave and strong, and fighting just to protect me. You were really good, you know. I hope you'll get better soon."

Those words were certainly true, as Kate's body had been torn to pieces by her classmate's knife while defending the one she loved. Still she lay in bed, weak and wounded but at least seeming much calmer and more relaxed than before her Liz had come to join her. Her body would still take time to heal, but she no longer seemed to be in pain. Instead of lying there and suffering Kate now gazed upon her friends able to enjoy their company.

Ralph noticed that as well. "She seems to be suffering less," she said, sounding rather surprised. "And definitely a lot calmer. Guess that's because you're with your 'special person' now, huh?" She glanced over at Jessie. "Haven't found professor Fong yet? Wouldn't surprise me if she didn't go see a doctor, after all."
