"I thought you and Max got married, or I had heard. I'd figure you two would stuck together." He smiled looking around.

She was quiet for a moment. "We did. But when the FBI started bearing down on us, he insisted we split up. I think he figured they'd try to go after him first." She bit her lip and slowly sat down on the sofa.

He sat down with her and touched her hand reassuringly and smiled. "I'm sure he'll be fine, and he'll come soon."

Liz smiled back at him and led him up the stairs and into her parents' apartment. "All right, what sounds good?" she asked as she moved into the kitchen, opening the fridge and peering inside. "Looks like there's leftover pizza...but I don't know how old it is, so I'm thinking that's out."

She checked the expiration date on the milk, grinning when she realized it was still good. "Mac and cheese?"

Nodding, she set about gathering the rest of the ingredients and a little while later, she set two bowls of macaroni and cheese on the small kitchen table for them. "So...where've you been staying, Alex?" She looked up at him with worried eyes.

He sat down and began to eat and looked at her at the question and smiled a bit. "Old buildings."
