Beer, Tiny Oaks and Afghans - Picture Post

Apr 19, 2014 13:53

Here come several pictures I've been meaning to take during the last couple of months.
They aren't very artsy, as I wanted to show you things, instead of taking lots of time with the camera. So instead of the SLR I used the small automatic that I carry in my handbag.

The most amazing thing first:

For the thing that happened in this post, the amazing genteelrebel made me this:

Isn't it the most wonderful thing? And it's as cozy as it looks!

And even more amazing, she writes the bestest Methos/Joe (Highlander) fic there is.
If you know Highlander at all, please check it out and leave her some love.

For scolaro as promised, a pic of the tiny oak on my balcony.

I didn't plant it. I found it one day growing together with another one. Sadly the second one didn't survive the replanting :(

It's now about three years old and if I were into Bonsai's it would be the perfect age to start being cut down so the trunk grows thicker but the tree stays small.

And now, just before I got ready to take the pic above I found a new tiny oak, growing out of the remains of the thyme, which I have yet to cut down.

If you look carefully you can still see the acorn it's growing out of. So this is an oak from this year!

The squirrels are surely busy.
Now I don't know what to do with them.
I can only assume they won't grow too large, like Bonsais do, since they don't have much room to spread.
I also don't dare take them out to replant them in Bonsai bowls as I'm afraid they'll die.
So for now I'll cut down the thyme and put some fresh soil in.

And lastly, beer!

Chris has gone on a craft beer/micro breweries spree, so we went to a speciality shop where they sell lots of craft/micro/imported beer.

And I couldn't share my SQUEE! when I found this one(well I did share the SQUEE!, but Chris declared me mental ;-)):

Now, I'm aware that this is neither craft beer nor one from a micro brewery and if I went to London I could get one at any pub.
But in Germany, except for Guiness and Strongbow, beer from the British Isles is hard to come by.
So why the SQUEE! you ask?
Well, because a couple of years ago this lovely gentleman, whom I am a huge fangirl over since about autumn last year made a series of commercials for it:

Only on rewatching these in order to pic my favourite ones, did I realise that there is a Fiat Panda in the first one! More Squee!
